Daughter has said all the kids are playing on it so said I'd play it with her to get the hang of it, absolutely no idea whats going on.

It's like you spawn, then you if you die (which we do quickly) then you have to wait for ages to play again.

Maybe that's why it's called Fortnite?

just read an article about this game on the guardian website. looks a really cool game. if I ever get to try it out, I would be the first to get shot. cool game idea of reducing the game space. this forces the gamers to constantly move. no wonder the kids love it. it looks very addictive.

My lad (9) plays it all the time on Xbox with his school friends, when I figured how it's played it is good to watch, sometimes his team wins, sometimes they die quickly and wait for another game. Started off free, but then they release extra packs every 3 months, for around £8. At the moment I don't mind paying seeing as the game was free but he asks most days for permission to buy more 'skins' etc. I can see how it could cost people a fortune.

I just got the free one but said if she played it and liked it she could use her pocket money to buy packs.

It's just not really knowing what's going on and then if you die you have to wait to play again, can't be dealing with that

Son plays it quite a bit. Only the simple free version. He likes its simplicity and plays both by himself and with others in a team. He wins some, loses others. Really enjoys it

I'm not too ashamed to admit I'm 26 and hooked. Really fun game and so easy to get into. It's really taking the gaming world by storm... it's like every other online game is quiet because they're all on fortnite.

You shouldn't have to wait ages if you die. Just leave the match and join the next.

I dont get what the point is, what progress do you make the more games you win etc?

Call of Duty you unlock guns etc.

There is no progression aside from some skins you can unlock, amongst other things which give you no advantage.

It's just very addictive and easy to play. I guess what you'r striving for is getting those wins which are pretty difficult. To be number 1 out of 100 is pretty difficult and it keeps bringing you back to attempt it

What are the benefits of paying? Is that just skins and new dance moves?

Have managed to come 3rd out of 100 and 6th so far, although I am shit when it comes to killing people Always get hammered if the find me.

There are no benefits to paying unless you want to look a little different... think that part is more for the kids

Have got into it a bit more now, although I'm not very good and get killed all the time so have resorted to hiding.

On solo I think the best I have finished is 4th.

I don't think PUBG is on the Ps4, but it looks a bit more grown up.

Have you tried Blitz mode? That's much harder.

Did download PUBG on my phone, had to delete it after about 30 seconds. Just can't deal with the controls on a phone.

No only done solo Battle Royale so far.

Been playing quite a bit today if I could shoot I’d be ok, got down to the last 2 a few times and had clear shots at the other player but can’t seem to kill them off one shot I’m I’m done!

I am the same, I seem to die straight away in a shoot off but can't kill others

Got a natural ability to stay out of trouble though!

I just get off bus late and head to outside of island at start and work my way in.

Get a few squad games in and you'll have a little more freedom to practice your shooting and working under pressure. Bit of practice you'll begin to feel more confident at the business end of a solo match

My advice is to do simple things like have your arsenal organised properly and always aim for the high ground... things will just fall into place the more you play after that

If you want kills land in popular places near the start and take ur a chances. A lot of it is to does with the quality of your weapon too, the grey ones hardly do any damage. Need head shots with at least the blue weapons

I’m a big fan of landing in quiet places and staying out the way and picking off people after they have a had a battle and are picking things up!

Build as much as you can. Just a ramp sometimes can give you a height advantage that often seems decisive in fortnite.

Something strange is going on, I had full shield and health and a legendary sniper rifle. I shot a bloke clean in the head, then shot him in the body and he just turned round and shot me once and dead.

Putting me off it when that happens.

I started playing that PUBG which is a similar game, enjoying it. It doesn't have as much gadgets etc as fortnite but seems to flow a little better. Finding Fortnite a little too 'busy' at times

I have started getting more but think I am a bit better now.

It crashes every 5-10 minutes on my daughters PS4 though.

My 2 lads play this on separate Xboxes but one was continually crashing, did a bit of research and found out that the latest Virgin hub is basically crap at handling high speed gaming. I had to set the Virgin router to modem mode and plug a gaming router into it, have had no problems since. Apparently it's a chipset problem which they were aware of 2 years ago but kept flogging these routers as the "Ultimate Entertainment Hub", bandits!
