I’d have him over Keane

I agree there. If he goes for Keane then I'll be lost for words. It would be an insane decision.

Couple of observations:

- Concern around Lampard moving on if he was successful. Given his style of play and his struggles at Everton, not entirely convinced I’d want him in charge of trying to keep us up if we made it to the PL.

- He was manager when Simms started getting some game time at Everton a couple of years back.

That Everton squad was poor though, not even pep could have got them in the top half

I have a really familiar feeling that this is not going to end up how we want it to , I mean in general not just lampard .

I just don't trust him to appoint the right man
Simms is never going to score again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend, I know Doug’s a fool
He should have known better than to sack a friend
And waste the chance that he’s been given

Doug's eyes are lighting up at the prospect of Roma being so keen. He'd love the narrative that he beat Roma to sign him up.

Thinking on it he was on talk premier today till 7:30 pm. Not saying he couldn’t of talked to Roma but not sure where he would of fit it in and definitely not in person which if it was out of two , you’d imagine they would be conducting face to face interviews

I agree, and IMO the whole thing is a completely unnecessary risk because the team isn't anywhere near as bad as some people seem to think, and with a couple of smart signings in Jan I reckon we'd have finished well up the table.

But we have to support somebody new. I wonder what the people calling for Robins to go had in mind? If we went for a Bloomfield type it might mean treading water for a while before (maybe) progressing again in a year or two. If it's a 'name' like Lampard it could go badly tits up, but there's at least a chance could take off big time. Given those choices, I lean towards the latter.

Can see Doug appointing himself at the forum tomorrow

'Doug, following the 7-0 loss to Sheffield United, the fans want to know why you choose to play Ben Wilson up front, what was the logic behind that?'

'Well, ackhtallllllly I played him in a free attacking role with licence to roam as it seemed like a waste of wages to have 3 goalkeepers on the payroll and not use them.'
