yep, lampard could surprise us all ,it was hard using sunderlands manager as an example but he only got his coaching license 2 years ago from youth team manager to top of the championship, there’s plenty of good coaches out there, personalily that’s what I’d go for, obviously the 2nd half wasn’t great to back up my pointCompletely get this. If your Doug, the potential sponsorship money could be worth it (I don’t genuinely think he’s a bad manager, think it’s way overblown).

Yes he won (whatever it was with England U21s) but could he work with a group of players that he hasn't selected and on day to day basis - not for three days every 10 weeks.

The question was about carsley being appointed director of football which I don’t think he would be happy to do.We are appointing a head coach, not a manager, so it will be a more hands on role with the players.
I can't see it happening unless he really wants to get into a club role, in which case we might be ideal for him. He is unlikely to walk straight into a Premiership job but may think League 1 is a bit too low, having been involved at international level.
I'm starting to warm to the idea. Whether he will is a different matter altogether.
