Nick, you know the posters. You also know I have duck all inside info.
Grandsons mate is one of U18s. His dad text that Lampard and Ashley Cole were at CBS.
I laughed, and grandson just said that the guy knows his footballers and doesn’t bullshit.
Take it or leave it,personally not being a gambler I checked the ods with the bookies.

The problem remains that he was a player who was supremely talented, but he’s working with players who are nowhere near that level and it seems he just loses patience with them not being able to do what came naturally to him.

He’d funnily enough be better off in the top flight.
I mean part of the issue is, you have to know how to tactically implement these ideas on the training pitch with high level coaching session and translate this onto the pitch on the match day and I'm not sure someone like Rooney can do that.
We can all go and say we want to play passing football and play from the back and play with a high press and intensity but making it happen is another thing.

I’m trying to be careful with what I’m saying with out getting pelters. Effectively I agree with you.

Rooney’s weakness is that he can’t grasp that you can’t get limited players to play like that. Ironically, Rooney would do a lot better with our squad

If he can adapt to the players he has, there’s potential there

Right

I'm not happy about robins leaving
He's one of our greatest ever managers and the best in my lifetime.
I wanted him to take us all the way but that was not to be
We can't get robins back

I've come to terms with it being lampard
Thats where I’m at. Agree with all of that.

This is why I said he hasn’t learned. DC United, Birmingham and now Plymouth all following a similar pattern.

Lampard did get a tune out of Derby and initially Chelsea, then was out of his depth at Everton where more proven managers than him also struggled. So is he who I’d appoint, no. Can I see the logic behind hiring him beyond just his name, yes.

Lampard seems to have a good knowledge when he speaks, and didn’t someone on here say he gets stuck in on the training pitch?

if so - he’s worth the punt, one thing he would do over an Alan Sheehan and Matt Bloomfield is instantly command the respect of the dressing room. Someone like Haji Wright is more likely to look up to Lampard then he is to the other 2

Yep. I’ve just accepted it now. Let’s hope he plays some attacking football if nothing else

I like lampard , if I take away the whole managerial aspect he's a very intelligent man , speaks incredibly well about the game and ofcourse played at the highest of the high of levels .

I said to dad earlier I hope I still like him when he's finished with coventry city

You’d certainly think so and he will be much better connected in the game than them to boot. Mason Mount was one hell of a loan for Derby that season as one example.

Only 9th? He had spent £220m.

Probably someone like Selles, Corberan if West Brom get fed up of this rot they’re on or Edwards
Fair point.

Wouldn’t want Edwards (just don’t have the players for the style or the want to watch it).

Corberan is probably the best manager in the league and if we could seriously get him then we should. But think he’ll go up for his next club even with the rot considering the issues he’s had and the fact there’s no many great coaches these days.

Ruben is a great coach and seriously underrated. Seems loyal to reading as never been linked with any club and seems a great fit for us

Reading that it appears Lampard is more suited with the better sides in the leagues rather than a relegation battle.

We have a competitive squad. If he can keep up our current run of form he’ll be more comfortable

That would be a great bonus if King hadn't banned loans

Finally

Il argue black and blue about the job done here by Mark robins

The man is statue worthy and I hope one day the club recognise the incredible job done during an incredibly indifferent period and the way he pulled the club , city and a generation of new fans together is a legacy that will make sure he's always seen here as a great man by most of us

Pretty much agree with this.
Whoever comes in I’m right behind him as I want the club to ultimately succeed and end up in the Premier League.
It’s a crying shame that Mark has gone it really is but if Frank Lampard is appointed I will support him and the boys 100%.
If we do end up in the Premier League it will always be in some part down to the work Mark Robins did in his time at the club - nobody can deny him that - he has laid the foundations and is responsible for all of the groundwork!
For that Mark Robins I and all the city faithful salute you and will ALWAYS be in your debt!
Good luck my friend - you deserve the best!

At the very least he might have some contacts to get some of Chelsea’s brightest youngsters in on loan to pad the squad out a bit.

We’ll develop Estevao for them when he joins next year 🤣

I want the club to immediately start organising the campaign to have his statue erected. It can go next to the planned Sillett one.

This would be one step back towards redemption for King.

I'm sure fans would be more than happy to donate

To be fair for me the big take away is the development of youth.

We know the cov academy can produce some decent players, would be interesting to see if anyone gets pulled up. Kai Yearns could be in line same for a couple of others around the first team.

It would be the most Coventry City thing ever for us to finally get back to the Premier League but without being taken there by the one man we all wanted it to be

Also another plus is the role of crossing in the team. We know we aren’t too shabby at crosses this year, with goals in our last five games coming from crosses.

“It’s no coincidence that with this style of play, Chelsea ended up topping the league charts for crosses into the penalty area per 90 in Lampard’s first season in charge, averaging 2.84 per 90.”

If he wants to stay in this division I think that stance will quickly change, especially if his own appointee tells him so. Hopefully Lampard quickly identifies what is sorely missing and politely tells King that leadership and know how tend to have low cost but high value.
