Was sacking Robins that dumb?

The fan base would not tolerate our form over the last 30 odd games and 8 home losses in 12 from any other manager but Robins. I hold the somewhat contradictory view that a) I wouldn’t tolerate this form from another manager and b) I trusted and believed Robins would turn it around.

The timing was just strange because we looked like we were potentially going to turn things around. The Derby result was concerning though.

Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole leading our team does not feel at all right. Feels like generic “name” appointments and another step away from the culture we’ve built over the last few years.

Would prefer an unknown like Horneland, Michel, Jaissle etc (not saying those specifically, other than Horneland). Individuals with points to prove and reputations to forge. People who won’t see themselves as bigger than the club.

Saying that, if it’s Lamps (annoying already) he’ll get my support and hopefully this is where he proves he’s not just another intelligent sounding pundit.

I think he timed it as he did precisely because it might have turned around.

If we were to sack Robins I was hoping Rob Edward’s would have been sacked from Luton first and we would have gone and got him, that would have been my ideal should we have got to where we have now but there’s no stand out candidates and I just want Robins back

Maybe but the first 60 mins of Derby was awful, there was no intensity or urgency. I have no doubt if robins had stayed and we’d lost today theyd be plenty on here calling for robin’s to go. I always felt he and the players should be given until Xmas before judging them but let’s be honest a fair few on here and at the ground wouldn’t wait that long

Watched FGR loads the season they won League 2. Edwards was the boss, they played excellent attacking football, attacking wingbacks bombing on.

I think he's a good manager who just used the tools available to him at Luton. As we know he was successful there 1st season and when he got them to the Prem he actually tried to add some quality with players like Barkley.

I disagree - this is character assassination of King. His first act at the club was to extend MR & AV’s contract and to give them a lot of money to spend.

There’s a lot going on at the club clearly if our ‘ITKs’ are getting info that players have checked out and the ‘vibe’ isn’t the same from the L1 early Championship days. In addition, MR has fallen out with plenty of players in the past, AV was reportedly an unpopular figure so it’s possible MR had lost the dressing room - or it’s a split camp and neither is a good place to be.

Our form this year has been awful and the loss against Derby was concerning. As great as MR was for us, maybe it was going stale.

Why would he sack the manager if he thought things were turning around?

I suspect Luton was Robins' last chance, obviously he got the win there and at Boro. But another shambolic performance and loss against a poor side was the nail in the coffin, and once King no longer believed MR was the man for the job then there's only one result.

The first act and most recent act make him seem quite impulsive, not a great trait

I think this is the case also. Obviously there is a desire to match the head coach style system that successful prem clubs use. I don’t think he really cared whether Mark fitted in with that or not it’s the way he wants this club to go.

I think he probably hoped it would suit Robins as then he wouldn’t have had to make such an unpopular decision as he has this week. Unfortunately it hasn’t the environment has changed into something Robins wasn’t thriving in.

Whether we agree or not that he should have changed the setup is irrelevant really now and he’s either gonna fall on his sword or it will work out.

The only thing I will say I do think he’s doing this this for the best of the club. For him to be successful he needs the club to be successful. I don’t get on board with some of the narrative prob mainly on twitter that it’s his ego and he wants to run the team. Hes a businessman all he cares about is his investments not reputation.

Yes he could have handled the sacking better ie letting robins say good bye to the players at least but this is football now and he’s hungry for success. Has he destroyed his best chance of that time will tell.

It’s not a conspiracy, there’s been some weird shit going on behind the scenes for a while. The Chris Ramsey thing was a clear lack of communication from multiple people.. ending with DK shutting it down via the Performance Director.

My bro's a Bluenose who's also part of a podcast about Blues & he heard from someone close to the staff there that Rooneys training methods were just bizarre & unprofessional plus he used to apparently treat the young players like crap because of his frustration at them not being able to carry out said tactics

Lampard is everything we don’t want, just name with no substance. He also had success at derby utilising expensive high calibre loans - again everything we don’t do now.

Lampard following arguably our greatest manager would just be so deflating, disappointing and almost feels like last 7 years were for nothing. Just my opinion and find the inevitable appointment frankly depressing.

surely a will still fits the “model” more, young progresseive and hungry. Whilst I don’t know foreign market there are couple of names similar to the Aberdeen manager that are thought well of also. I’d even prefer the Wycombe manager over Lampard to grow with the club.

the grief curve of robins is low today, feels so disinterested in city.
