Robins installed slow, pedestrian, walking, 5 touch at a time football this season.

That was one of his biggest failures, you watch pre season training and it's pass pass pass pass pass.

You watch a game and it's Bobby thomas standing still for 17 seconds then passing back to Dovin

Point being, we have players who can speed it up and our tempo was all wrong. Whoever comes in has a good deck (🫢) to work with

Does this coincide with the new coaching regime?

It's Milligan > Everett > Cleese

"But, you know, Frank Lampard will make one too many mistakes. Doug King will see what I already knew, and they go in there, they will march in there. They go, Right, yeah, Mark Robins was right. You've pissed off Simms and you've pissed off Eccles. You're not the manager you thought you were. Okay. So get out, we made the mistake. Then they drag him out by his hair and that's when the begging starts. They'll come to me and say, Ooh, Mark you were right all along, you were the right man for this job, you're the best man for this job. Will you come back? I'll be like, yeah sure how much money have you got? Because this is going to cost you, this is going to cost you"

Yeah, maybe, but I just don't want Lampard, so if it were out of the two, I would choose Carsley.
Yes, would agree with that. Not having any club experience worries me though, particularly considering where we are in the table.

Based on the current odds.

RVN I think would be somewhat out of our reach, so I personally don't believe he would come here, but if there is genuine interest from his side I think it would be "Ruud" not to explore it.

I would happily accept Carsley or Lampard as our next head coaches.

Robbie Keane, Nicky Butt, Matt Bloomfield and John Eustace would be no's from me.

I am very sceptical about David Wagner and Steven Schumacher.

I want lampard or carsley. Both have attacking mantra.

Wether works or not I dunno but I want to see it tried out and then we shall know for sure

I’m convinced the slow passing is a result of poor movement off the ball as much as anything. The amount of times players just had nothing to aim for.
Movement off ball?! This ain't FIFA lad. Get back to watching sky and stop asking for unrealistic things 🤣

This was very evident with the Derby game. We all know Bobby Thomas's distribution isn't the best but he had absolutely nobody to pass to at times, they just stood still. Crowd were on his back to speed things up too.

Is there a Manager/Head Coach nowadays that would actively promote defensive football?

I think there’s a reason why Sam Allardyce is getting nowhere near a dugout again

I actually felt for the CBs that game. Both Bobby and Binks in particular were driving forward quite regularly to try and progress the ball up the pitch, but then stopping at the half way line and passing sideways to one another or to Lati as there was no one actually making space for themselves and eventually they were closed down.

Think there were confused as we often use the Cb to either progress the ball or to draw the press to open space up the pitch.

Since they didn’t press us, we had no option for the pass.

There was one point in the game where Thomas carried the ball for 10-15 yards or so, looked up and not one player was making a run or attempting to make space.

If you don't create space a pass can't really be made.

Only thing that annoyed me about that was that Thomas should therefore have gone through the middle. It was the only means of disrupting Derby’s shape. If he’d done that on a couple of occasions someone would have had to step to him which then opened up other areas. Couldn’t for the life of me believe it hadn’t been communicated to him.

We were far too hesitant. I think as you say if we'd actually taken the attack to them and forced them to break rank more frequently it perhaps would've been a different story.

Problem is we looked so vulnerable to their long balls that any prospect of disrupting their shape by driving through the middle (and risk the ball being turned over) made our CBs shit themselves.

Am I missing something but why do people want Carsley?

I definitely do not, but maybe you convince me otherwise?
It's a bit like when your partner wants to redecorate the living room and he/she has got thousands of those little pain pots and you are like - 'how about this one, this one is fine' and she is like 'don't be stupid that one is horrible. Oh, I'm not sure, I think I might like this one.' and you are like 'great, let's get that one.' So you spend all afternoon painting he/she comes home and 'Oh, I don't like it.'

And you are just stood there thinking - 'I was happy with the colour it was.' 🙄

Perhaps the fact he's an international u21 coach that has won a major tournament. Considering were after a coach rather than a manager, it makes sense.
He's been a constant in the game since he retired from playing aswell, giving him plenty of experience.
If we appointed Spains u21 head coach everyone would be excited.
