to make it worse a wannabe who has rowed back on his initial claim

But not rowing back on the family ties thing. Makes zero difference if it's King or Austin, it's dodgy and should have zero influence on selecting our next manager. We want the best man for the job, not just a fancy name with the right connections. Stinks, if true.

and?

the if is frankly fucking massive in this

I'm not going have too much faith in a rumour that can't even decide who Redknapp's mate is.

No idea if the new manager will be Lampard, but it seems clear that there is no candidate that DK can select that will not outrage a portion of our support. If it is Lampard we as supporters have to get behind him and give him a chance. Previous success (or failure) is not always an indicator of future success, much depends on what the individuals have learned from those experiences. Certain managers are right for certain clubs and wrong for others, so hopefully if it is him we might be the club where it clicks for Lampard.

I disagree , if he's sacked Robins and thinks Lampard is the best option then he's clearly clueless

Anger among the Coventry hierarchy, who thought they'd have their pick of new managers, even those with Premier League options?

You don't get rid of stability and loyalty for a punt on a "name". Unless you're King that is.

How the fuck am I likely to know who wants the job? What I do know is that FL would not be the way forward. My suggestion would be to have a chat to the recruitment team at Brighton, they appear to know what they are doing.
Yeah let’s go and beg Brighton for advice lol

Why would any clubs just one division apart be offering assistance to each other?

Everyone who's ever managed them has kept Everton in the Premier League.

I'm not sure 6th with that Derby side can be said to be a huge success. It had players like Wilson, Mount and Tomori in it. Wasn't that basically in the era that ultimately screwed them? They had to get promoted or they were in it up to their necks; well, look how it turned out for them.
Is Robins as achievements delegitimised because he had Gyokeres and Hamer playing for him in 2022/23?

If your answer is no, the same logic applies to Lampard too.

My king Quinn is still saying it’s RVN
No pressure 😂 honestly though, it’s Sunday night, nothings happening tonight so suprising why the Lampard rumours gone into over drive, something majors happened if it’s true, not Heard anything different since yesterday ?

I’ll be supporting whoever gets the job, because as fans we don’t have a choice. Unless you’re the type that posted threads calling for Robins’ head 10 games into the season.

There hasn’t been a name mentioned over the last week that I’d prefer over keeping Robins and doing whatever it took to organise quality help for him. But that ship has sailed.

I’m very sceptical that a genuine process has been followed here. But of all those mentioned, Lampard seems as likely as anyone to take us forward. He appears serious about wanting to succeed as a coach, and keeps coming back for more even though I’m sure he has other easier ways of making money.

Well, one thing to say is that we don't know how serious the links with those people are, or who else is / was genuinely in the frame.

Of those three, probably Carsley. I'd be happier though to take a punt on someone less experienced, rather than appoint someone who's record it's erring on generous to call average, though.
How do you define average?

A Top 4 finish in the Prem and finals in the Championship playoffs and in the FA Cup is hardly average for a Championship team hiring a manager.

I like Carsley, however, he’s the only ‘viable’ candidate that hasn’t applied as far as we know. No major media source has reported Carsley as applied for the role. In any case, he has no club experience.

With RVN, he may have applied but by all accounts is waiting for a Prem job / Burnley so I’m sceptical if he even wants to be our manager.

Therefore, if not Carsley or RVN, who else is more qualified than Lampard? With Lampard, it’s a great opportunity to really resurrect his career as a promising young English manager.

No they are not, there's the one started the "story" but has changed his mind now and a German guy who agreed with him but the German guy does that a lot even if it's not true

Betting suspended now, usually a sign it's completed and everything looks like it's FL. Wouldn't have been my choice, but I'll back him and hope everyone does.

It's easy to have a Gary Linekar 'Claudio Ranieri, really!?' moment at this point to be honest. We have players that are very good and we looked to be turning a corner.

It doesn't mean Lampard couldn't do well, or that we shouldn't be behind him at this point, but it's all a bit redundant. I was quite behind Doug King until now, but this whole thing is just a joke in principle.
it’s a pretty uninspiring appointment for sure, and what i think makes it worse is seeing van nistelrooy and carsley in the media as alternative choices. The reality is though we have got no idea if either of them were truly interested and it’s the only way to keep my sanity to tell myself they weren’t

Here’s to hoping lampard surprises us all
