Shortening of Keane is part of Deadly Doug managing expectations. Everyone was wanking at the thought of RVN so Lampard now feels a downgrade. now he's leaked on Keane who nobody wants so that everyone is delighted when he unveils Lampard ;) :D

Clever. Now Lampard's an upgrade. Not just thrown together this elite coach interview process, is it?

This might be a minority view but I don’t actually care that much as it’s very hard to tell how any manager will do in a specific situation.

Same, I'm still disappointed with the decision to get rid of Mark Robins and some of the names being floated about aren't that exciting, but we have no idea how they'll perform and I'll fully support anyone who comes in.

Massive appointment for Doug though which will probably define his time owning the club

Great news. Get the CBS packed Saturday. Media hype like this club has never seen before.

Yeah have you noticed we're on Sky main event Saturday morning 11 o'clock start, let the feast begin.

Agreed. For a lot of coaches, there’s an element of luck in being the right manager for the right club. Like what we had with Robins or Luton with Nathan Jones.

The club seems to be in a better place to provide the conditions and the environment that will make managers and playing staff alike thrive.

I assume the thinking behind it is for the club to be less reliant on one member of staff for success than it clearly was under MR.

Why would it? Lots involved in hiring a manager. His own and probably his coaches contracts and all agreements too

Going by what people have said on this thread Doug King had Lampard lined up the day he sacked Mark Robins. 🤔

Does anyone have more context on why Robbie Keane would be such a bad choice? He's far from my first choice, but based on the below I'd have him streets ahead of Lampard.

At first glance it looks like he did a great job at Maccabi Tel Aviv, winning them the league for the first time in 4 seasons in his only season there, and getting to the last 16 of the conference league, losing to eventual winners Olympiakos...

Inevitable due to RVN being effectively ruled out by the bookies. They don't want anymore money on this book so they are shortening up anyone they think may have a squeak. The traders will have backed all of Lampard RVN & Keane on the exchanges at far bigger prices to ensure a decent profit . Last I saw the over round was a massive 165%.

Not strictly true. The exchanges have not offered a market on our new manager. Keane is the only candidate that has been shortened in the last 24 hours. According to oddschecker only Skybet are offering odds now:
2/7 Lampard, 10/3 Keane, 11/1 RVN, 28/1 Carsley, 33/1 Edwards, Carr, Bloomfield

I think its fair to assume from this that Keane is on the shortlist. We know that Lampard is on it too, and that RVN was on it prior to the realisation that he's probably stringing us along. The question then is who are the others? I suspect Carr might be one of them as a sop to the man in situ, which leaves perhaps one other. Was it Carsley whose odds have drifted dramatically, or someone completely leftfield that hasn't been mentioned?

Carsley was reported never in for it apparently. Someone has said Evatt is on the shortlist on the other chat.

Yep, we'll lose our identity now, our Club will be prefixed with "Frank Lampard's" on every website, newspaper article and TV show.

All the hard work of MR and AV pissed up the wall with a vanity appointment by our clueless owner.

We're an absolute embarrassment of a club.

We had a manager who fixed the relationship between the fans and the club when it seemed impossible, brought us back up the leagues, and made us respected in the public eye again, after decades of being laughed at.

That's all now gone to shit. You have sacked him to bring in what is essentially a Hollywood name with no stripes. Say it out loud... You've sacked Mark Robins for Frank fucking Lampard. Doug King you are an absolute c**t.

Not sure how any of you clapping seals got your brains wired so to think this is good. I'm fucking furious.

Loved Lampard as a player and he was one of the best goal scoring midfielders around, but really can’t get behind King ‘losing faith in Robins’ and going for someone that has achieved no promotions and only met minimal expectations at Derby and Chelsea and from what has been said so far, stinks of nepotism towards Lampard so far from Doug King. Him name checking Lampard when ‘the process has only begun’ was a clear signal.

Doug Queen has made a mess of his comments about the assistant manager recruitment, which BBC CWR’s finest didn’t question and instead offered questions worthy of a child journalist. If King can’t help facilitate the recruitment of an assistant manager or a replacement for Dennis Lawrence, what hope does Dickhead Doug have of the most senior position on the playing side?

Firstly, there was no high quality candidates put on Doug’s desk, then it was that they all wanted to be assistant manager, then it was that Robins couldn’t get it over the line, which version of events are you going for?

Doug isn’t from the football world, and hasn’t put anyone into a notable position from the world of football. Dean Austin, as shit as he is IMO, was appointed during SISU’s tenure. Doug hasn’t brought in anyone to give him any qualified football advice and sadly, this is a recipe for disaster and I have no faith in any recruitment process or decision making at the club.

Doug King comes from silver spoon, middle class entitlement and a narcissistic belief that his knowledge and leg up position in the Rapeseed industry, gives him omnipotent knowledge in football. Stick to lawn tennis Doug and bring someone in that has more knowledge of football than a few jollies in Norwich hospitality with the other trust fund bandits.

weirdest part is someone who says they come from Earlsdon using being middle class as an insult

I’m not originally from Earlsdon I’m from Cheylesmore, worked plenty of hours and overtime, saved up some money and bought a house did it up, onto the next.

The goal is to live in a good area rather than somewhere you don’t want to live, live in your mums spare room in your 40s or wait for inheritance.
