I have cut my input by around 70.236% these past couple of years, so you can only wonder just how much I USED to post before that.

Do think it is a case of when and not if

Football Insider come in for a lot of stick and rightly so but for their top journo to come out and say pen has been put to paper on the deal and it is all done, when there is a chance it isn't is a hell of a ballsy move and would massively dash their credibility if it turned out not to happen

Dunno why the club aren't just announcing it tho, even if they did it today to announce to takeover for Cardiff

Interesting that one of the pundits on Saturday said how brave Gareth Ainsworth was for taking the Shrewsbury job with the first game against Birmingham, rather than waiting for an easier first game. Not the case here is it?

I dont think anything will be signed off until DK has been involved, lots of posts on here saying that the applicants were being whittled down by the senior management team first. It should be this week surely but if you have any ambition you would at least test the water with Cooper surely? It would obviously delay things a bit but if you are dotting the I and crossing the T you would have to see what his expectations were unless the paperwork has been signed as he has the track record were after.

Choose to believe as you wish

The hold up is the cash. Dougs not agreeing (and rightly so) to just say name your price and do what you want

If we remember back to the forum Doug wanted a Head Coach to work with the current setup

Lamps won't. He wants Morris and Cole with him. Fair enough of course

This however leaves Doug forking out a lot more than he wanted too. So negotiations have been slower than expected

Both parties still very keen and it's not a million miles away at all. Just more of a sticking point than Doug first imagined. Maybe his naivety showing again. But I'm glad in a way he hasn't just lobbed a chequebook around

Ainsworth had 11 days prep for his first game, it's not the same situation. Plus who actually knows what the case is here

Good. Lampard doesn’t warrant an open cheque book.

if true, how is it not a million miles away?
It seems pretty black and white, Lampard wants his people. Doug doesn’t? Where do you realistically go from there?

I did wonder whether something like this might be happening, but I had thought about it more from the point of view of how they're managing the existing staff.

To be honest if he's demanding his own staff isn't that against the "he'll work within the structure" type line we've heard already? Not sure it is conducive to good morale amongst the players who actually seem to like Carr and the others.

Surely he realized no manager would be contempt working with just the coaches currently employed.

exactly, the only people coming in keeping the same staff would be a No. 2 somewhere else and we’re their first job.

if Doug hasn’t backed down in this issue, it’s a non-starter with Lampard?

Vibe I got from saddles post is that there’s probably a bit of compromise needed from dk re the hiring of morris and Cole alongside Lampard

This was always going to be the case, a new manager has to work with the people he trusts to be fair to FL

That's it

And Doug isn't averse to it

But how does that then leave what's in place? Carr doesn't deserve to be kicked does he?

Would he fit in amongst Cole and Morris for example?

Would Dempster be back with youth or gotten rid of?

That's the hold ups evidently

Because there is a will from both sides to get it done

It's not just a 'if you won't do that for me I'm not doing it' etc
Tbh i always thought we'd end up with a mixture of old and new regarding the coaching team. I'm thinking that is where we'll end up. I've been impressed with Carr and hope he is kept on.

Seems sensible from Doug to be fair and understand the decisions coming off shouldn’t be made lightly and while Morris and Cole would be amazing pick ups, the cost of them alone is massive without the added prices of sacking everyone off.

Wonder where that leaves us but based on what you put still seems as though it will happen just a bit more thought required and maybe certainty on whether Lampard is the right fit.

Wonder if we have a back up lined up tho if it just can’t be agreed
