Free Transfers (2 Viewers)

I mentioned it on the Norwich match thread before the game but I will repeat it here.

Making transfers isn't the only way to improve a team. You have to be able to work with the players on the training ground to improve them. This is where Robins and the coaching staff ultimately earn their money. They have 2 weeks now to get them playing in a way to get results, and for me we have to give Robins the benefit of the doubt to be able to do that.

These free transfers will cost a lot in signing on fees and/or wages for the likes of Praet/Armstrong and i think people are getting in there head now that any signing is an improvement rather than actually knowing if it's what we need. On paper fine, but does it then prevent us from making the signings we do want long-term.

Bobby Thomas did improve quite a bit last season but was dropped for MR’s favourite in record time this season.

It's painfully obvious we have not replaced the roles COH, Palmer or Kelly played in the squad and midfield is looking bare. Here you can see free transfers. Any appeal?

The thing is we have replaced O’Hare and Palmer, replaced them with wingers for the change in shape.

I don't get the obsession with wingers. Is our centre forward supposed to suddenly start scoring bags full based on decent crosses? We've seen how many barn doors get missed already. The other strikers in our squad have different attributes and play a different style but we only play one striker with two wingers

I don’t think Palmer would have made any difference on Saturday, they were getting through unchallenged. Eccles and Torp were never more than 10 yards apart, almost holding hands, and having 2/3 touches between them and the defence rather than looking for the runs Simms and Bassette were making.
I don’t know the answer, but another stronger, quicker thinking player ( back to Hamer! ) is needed quickly if we’re going to turn this around.

I would hope to see the wingers cutting inside more often than they are currently. It doesn’t have to be endlessly trying to find Simms’ slab.

Alan Browne went to Sunderland on a free and suddenly by some coincidence they are top of the league and unbeaten. Read into that what you will, but perhaps a lost opportunity and decision that will haunt us

Or he made the right choice

What even is this comment? Like it's all down to Browne? I forgot that Preston won the league last year.

Considering he's only started 2 of the games yes it is a coincidence well done.

Said it a couple of days ago,I know the free agent market isn't the clubs preference but given the current midfield situation surely the club must be looking? ...some decent players available I reckon....I know they aren't "free" (signing on fee, wages etc) but we're crying out for an experienced older head in the defensive/holding midfield area.

Didn’t know that what did he do?
He got 18 points for motoring offences and got a 6 month ban. Literally as soon as the ban was lifted he got a further 12 points taking him to 30 points. Was then flashed again twice and refused to disclose to the Police who was driving his car. Going to court for this and I think driving without insurance. No mention of driving with drugs that I've seen.
