Right, City should be back to full strength after slipping out of the cup, and hopefully the Cranie deal will be completed and he'll add some strength to the back.

2-0 Sky Blues.

Venue: Oakwell Date: Saturday, 15 August 2009 Kick-off: 1500 BST
Coverage: BBC Sport website, BBC Radio 5 live, BBC local radio, Final Score & highlights on The Football League Show

TEAM NEWS
Recent signing Adam Hammill is set to play for Barnsley, who have doubts over Darren Moore (ankle), Iain Hume (groin) and Hugo Colace (ankle).
Luke Potter is expected to continue at centre-back and Daniel Bogdanovic could start after scoring at Lincoln.
Coventry are set to give a debut to new signing Martin Cranie at the back.
Clinton Morrison is nursing a badly bruised foot and faces a fitness test, while Elliott Ward and Leon McKenzie have also been struggling.

MATCH PREVIEW

It has been a good week for Barnsley. They came back from 2-0 down to claim a point against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday, won at Lincoln in the Carling Cup and sealed the signing of winger Adam Hammill, who impressed while on loan from Liverpool last season.

The Tykes were tipped to struggle this season, but victory in their opening home game would turn an encouraging start to the campaign into their best start in this division since 1996-97 - when they were promoted to the Premier League.
Coventry fielded an under-strength side in a cup defeat against Hartlepool but showed signs of promise while beating much-fancied Ipswich last weekend.
They have since signed England Under-21 defender Martin Cranie from Portsmouth - a player who struggled while on loan at Charlton last season, but earned rave reviews before a broken leg cut short a previous loan spell at Queens Park Rangers.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head
• Barnsley were in the Premier League when they recorded their only victory in 13 clashes with Coventry; a 2-0 win at Oakwell in October 1997.
• Coventry have won nine of their last 13 league meetings with the Tykes, including the last three in south Yorkshire.
Barnsley
• Barnsley are on a five-match unbeaten league run overarching last season, but they have only won one of their last 10 Championship matches.
• Goalkeeper Luke Steele has been on loan at Coventry three times. The most recent spell was for the second half of the 2006-07 season.
Coventry
• A victory for Coventry would mean winning their first two league matches for the second season running.
• Defeat would mean a fourth successive away league losses.
• Striker Clinton Morrison has scored in his last two league matches - both of them have been against Ipswich.

Cranie apparently played well, but was forced off with cramp. The Flying Dutchman played another blinder but was apparently on the end of a rollocking from Coleman. Best also played well from what I heard. Morrison seems to be playing with the right attitude as well.

From the BBC:

Barnsley 0 - 2 Coventry

Barnsley had full-back Rob Kozluk sent off as Coventry won at Oakwell for the fourth successive season.
The Sky Blues went ahead early when Leon Best hammered a free-kick into the roof of the net after Clinton Morrison was fouled on the edge of the box.
And Morrison sealed it late on from Isaac Osbourne's cross after Kozluk had departed for two bookable offences.
The only bright spot for Barnsley was the return of Iain Hume, nine months after suffering a fractured skull.
Hume, who suffered the injury in a game against Sheffield United, was introduced as a sub by manager Simon Davey as Barnsley tried to rescue something from a game which the visitors had largely controlled since Best's eighth-minute strike.

They were already down to 10 men by then, with Kozluk having been shown the red card following two fouls in the space of as many minutes, the second on Aron Gunnarsson.
Midfielder Jacob Butterfield, who scored his first goal for Barnsley in last weekend's 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday, went close to another when he fired a shot narrowly wide.
But hopes of an equaliser were snuffed out when Morrison found the space for a well-taken volley beyond keeper Luke Steele to register his third goal of the season.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey:

"It was a sending off because they were two bad tackles. They were probably the only decisions the referee got right all day.
"He gave them a free-kick for no reason which they scored from and there were a lot of decisions he got wrong.
"We didn't play well and didn't create enough chances. The performance wasn't acceptable and a few players have to look over their shoulders."
Coventry manager Chris Coleman:
"Barnsley have been playing very well so we knew it was going to be hard and I thought we thoroughly deserved the three points.
"Leon practises free-kicks every day in training and he despatched it in the best way.
"There are another 44 games to go so there's a long way to go. We've got a better feeling in the squad than last year, but we still need to improve and I'm hoping to bring one or two in."

Interesting to see Coleman say he still wants to bring one or two more in, there's a week and bit left of the window, I wonder who Cookie's got in mind, there's the unnamed centre midfielder, hmm, who knows what's going on in the corridors of power at the mighty Ricoh...

Great result that was, cracking free kick by Best and what looked like a very good all round performance from the team! I just hoped we don't use up all our wins too early on in the season and burn out for the rest of it (like, erm, the last few years?!)

Thanks for linking the YouTube vid too, good to see the BBC's new highlights show as well - I liked it!
