Any new player coming in is a lift! As mentioned he has experience at England under 21, so that puts him slightly above our Youth side. To be fair a villa England under 21 reserve, is still better than the likes of Jeffries etc IMO.

We have to get what we can. Can't understand people slating Thorn......what do you expect? "AT, he's shit i wanted an old experienced Pro" lol

Thorn should not have said a word last week then. His words were an experienced players is coming in early next week.

Never happened. Why say it?

At least we have someone in... but we all got excited when Cody signed and he has done nothing. But what can we honestly expect?

because, obviously, Michael Brown is exactly like Dennis Wise... Sheesh!

You don't get it do you? Fans were moaning when wise signed. I Remember hearing he's too old. We don't need him, he's only hear to pick up a late wage packet. Turned out to be our best player and finished the season on a high. Old heads are needed not some teenager who has played 45 mins in a U21 game.

Brown is no where near Wise's standard and never has been. Whilst I admit that we need an old head on the pitch and in the dressing room, to compare him to Wise is mental!

And a young lad who can score from midfield and adds an option, to me, is better than no one at all. Which is what we were all expecting. Credit where credits due.

FYI, I do get it, I just think you're being unreasonable.

We dont know whats going to happen until we see him in action but I do agree with CUS Wyken we could do with the experience imo.. Either way, I always have faith and believe.

Personally I welcome the fact that we are getting someone in and likely to retain Juke for now. If the young lad does come good luck to him and it is some welcome positive news !

I do query how the loan signing matches up to AT's statements about not needing more young players and needing an experienced player instead. Given the state we are in it must be hard to get players to come but this loan signing is a complete U turn on what he said he needed. Sorry but it points to me to more lack of clarity in the managers thoughts

Listen boys and girls, we all recognise we need experience. But at this particular stage in the season, anybody who comes through the door and can give us maybe another option, a fresh pair of legs and poissibly the option of a few goals from midfield, then perhaps the lad should be given a chance. Let's at least see how he performs before we write him off? There is a chance he could turn out to be a disaster, or he could turn out to be the spark that ignites our season. Until he plays, we won't know. All I'm saying his hold back on the critique until he's actually played for us!

I'll give you a reality check mate.

We already have the youngest side in the league. We are desperate for a experience player. Thorn last week said that experience player will be here early next week.

We end up with a unproven 'prospect' with no experience. Bigi can do a similar role if given the chance. By all accounts were holding back Bigi going forward more, he had skill, pace and a great shot on him.

Why help nurture villa players when we have similar anyway?

This fella is much better than what we've got at the minute. He looked very good playing for England the other week. We can't afford experience and they won't come here!

Is Thorn having a laugh? We have the best academy in the country yet he's bring in a teenager from another club.

Sorry but this is a joke.

None off our academy are in the England U21 squad. Not many of them are 6' 2", either. We do need more physical presence.

He said he wants experience but this signing was to good an opportunity to turn down.

We couldn't afford an experienced player, surely that much is obvious?! Gardner was mentioned by Pearce in an interview just the other week along with Amoeobi. He said it was very frustrating that they aren't getting games. So we can kinda thank him to some extent that this happened.

He played 45mins football for U21. Can't judge too much on half a game mate. I know what you mean but just annoys me that Thorn came out last week in the media and said an experienced player will sign early next week. Why say it? If he had kept his mouth shut I wouldn't be bothered. To me he's telling us things we wanted to hear rather then the truth.

What has Bigi suddenly turned into a 6ft 2 physical goal scoring box-to-box midfielder?

If he's as good as there making out then he'd be on the bench at Villa or least have played a handful of games. He won't be match fit, weve only got him for a month. If it was a season long loan id be more confident.

Villa fan in peace here

Personally I'm gutted that GG is joining you on loan as he is the brightest prospect we've had down Villa park for some years and most Villa fans would have him starting against Swansea on Sunday if it was up to us
Don't worry about his confidence he told Jordan Henderson where to go against Iceland when he tried to take the free kick.Believe me he's ready.Scored a hattrick against Ajax on Tuesday without breaking a sweat
Seriously enjoy him while you've got him.I hope he does well for you
All th best for the rest of the season

Has been given the chance to prove it? No. You speak to anyone in the academy and they'll tell you Bigi is a threat going forward. He's wasted playing deep. I'd much rather give our own a chance rather then some player who has played 45 mins for the U21's

We are hardly in a position to pick and choose who we sign. I'm sure we were in for Brown-as we were Shelvey, Drinkwater etc. I'll watch with interest to see which club he joins, who are no doubt prepared to pay all his wages rather than our measley 50% (at best) offer. You don't blame Thorn for that, you blame the board.

Everytime he gets near the penalty area he panics. His 2 or 3 shots so far have been terrible. He's not being "held back", he's a kid who has hit the wall by having too much expectation heaped on his shoulders.

lets just give the kid a chance we can not really end up in a worst position than we are now can we ? beggars cant be choosers so we get the bread crumbs left at the table so lets hope he is brilliant for us and lets cheer him on and see how he does for us before slagging him off!!!:D

Did he actually say that? Or were his words more along the lines of "I'd like to sign an experienced player early next week". Last i heard was after Tuesdays game where AT said he'd expressed his needs and wishes to the chairman, and at the end of the day the final decision was out of his hands, but he'd love someone new to come in etc. Seems that people are not in favour of another young player and are twisting words so theres someone to blame. Happily be proved wrong if you can provide a link to a quote where AT definitely confirms an experienced signing though.

Villa Fan here, As the Villa before has stated his expression, we are gutted that we've let this kid go considering Tin Tin plays Heskey in midfield instead of one of the best prospects we have had for years. He needs to play games to help his development, so going to City will hopefully do that but reading some of the comments that you have the best youth side, this kid is actually 19 and not 21, has been captain of the reserve side winning the reserve championships in the process. As for the best academy, don't see your side representing the UK in the youth European Cup, which with Gary we finished top. The lad is a star in the making, left foot, right foot, awesome free-kick. The boy is quality. All the best for your season and hopefully you get out the mire your in as i do miss our games in the 90's i.e. real football.

Wasnt knocking the signing of Gardner at all NLHWC just a bit surprised with all AT's scouting etc he wasnt able to get a more experienced player when he made it very clear that was what he wanted. Can understand that might be hard to do and I hope Gardner really kicks starts our season (but one player is unlikely to) but it was AT who said he wanted experience not youth to come in on loan not me. Think i have proven i understand the finances better than most ! Whoever he brings in will cost.

but like i said this is positive and welcome news for a change !

We just can't afford experience. Experienced players will be on 8-20k p/w at least. Our target market is probably 1-3k p/w. Remember, Thorn "does what he is told"!

From all accounts he sounds like a star in the making and sometimes quality tells over experience. It's always nice to have a player that's going places at the Ricoh - if only for a short time. Good to hear he's 6'2 as well.

Not sure I like him telling super Jordan Henderson where to go though. :D

Afternoon all, Villa Fan here...

Just came to congratulate you, on what has to be the best buy in championship... As a regular to the villa youth games, all i can say is... this player is better than any of the current Villa midfielders... Im absolutely shocked and to be honest very annoyed that we have loaned him out.. He will absolutely destroy the championship..

He isnt just potential, he is by far the best player in that league now he has made the step down...

ENJOY HIM... And for those of you who are moaning, you dont deserve him..

I FOR ONE, will be backing coventry to win the weekend, and for Gary Gardner to score a brace.

Fantastic player... I rate him as highly as stevie G.

Your best player now.

Best luck with the season.
