Terrible appointment for the Premier League.... but at least it should stop him and his trust cronies from sniffing around us. Wonder if he's planning to get Dale Evans to sponsor the league?

My thoughts?

There's no doubt his career has been pretty impressive really. He seems to make the right decisions on where to go, and what to do.

Really, it doesn't tally with his involvement with CCFC. is that where being a fan clouds his judgement? Is it where a (not unreasonable!) desire to see SISU gone clouds his judgement?

I'd say it would give the Trust more influence and more "in's" in the football world.

One thing I do know about that story... he's not an investment banker as the headline says. He's always worked in retail and credit cards.

I never could equate this clearly successful businessman with his clownish acts regarding the football club and the idiots he surrounded himself with

Always been a City fan, had a good business career moving upwards, not sure about his vision for the City but cannot fault his desire to see SISU gone. He strikes me as a decent bloke, but maybe blind-sided by Ransom et al, but who wasn't taken in by them??

That's it, isn't it. On face value, he's exactly who we'd all dream of having in charge!

Mad Hatters and Dale Evans too?

Good news for Richard Keys though.

Never understand the very negative thoughts of Gary Hoffman particularly by some on here -
-The guy has Cov city blood running through his veins
-He has been the only one it seems driving a deal to try and purchase the club -He has tried and failed a number of times to purchase the club for quite generous offers, considering we do not even have a ground
-He now has one of the top jobs in football - Maybe it seems after all he does know a thing or two about the game and how clubs should be run, as some powerful people in the English game obviously thinks so particularly, the people that have employed him
-His influence might just see Cov play out the rest of the season at some point, and fight the spoilers that want the finish wrapped up

Nothing personal but that’s absolute nonsense and you know it.

It seems there are two camps the Gary Hoffman like or dislike – you are obviously in the latter -Nothing personal either but none of it is nonsense, what part of the nonsence inot sure you are referring to? - In reference to a potential sale, never heard or seen other groups of potential investors clamouring at the door making offers accept consortiums continually led by him - Hoffman is totally switched on and certainly knows what he is doing when it comes to a whole array of business decisions including trying to buy a football club and importantly when to pull out – His heart and soul was completely focused on the future of our club, the financials secondary – He has now moved on and it doesn’t surprise a lot of people his new appointment as his CV reflects his outstanding ability

One of the reasons we don’t have a ground is because when Gary Hoffman was vice chairman he decided not to buy in to it.

The financials kind of need to be up there when trying to buy something. The same when he was using Michael Orton as a front for that comedy bit where every number represented something.

He fell for a joker claiming to be a millionaire when everybody else saw from the start it was a chancer.

What about the closing of the Academy he wanted?

Come on you can't genuinely believe the nonsense you've just spouted. What deal has he ever had that appeared genuine or generous? Please enlighten us all.

The ones that Hoffman leaked to facebook saying "This is an offer that is too good to be true for SISU".

Maybe it's this bid.

The offer to purchase the club was a symbolic £51,987.35 - £50,000 as a financial incentive, £1,987 as a nod to the club’s FA Cup success and 35p to symbolise the number of miles from Coventry to Northampton.

I think me and you have genuinely been as close as him to buying the club.

I've always said that IMO he was never completely serious about purchasing the club and simply popped up during times of crisis to manipulate fans into thinking he's the club's knight in shining armour. The people he associates with, the timing of his supposed bids and his bizarre interviews in the local media all reek of duplicity. The only genuine bid IMO was from the Wasps consortium.

That's the thing, most prospective buyers of clubs have to sign NDA's even before bids are put on the table - SISU aren't fools and would almost certainly force Hoffman to do the same. So how is he leaking info on social media?

All part of his bigger plan to change the rules to get hedge funds out of football!

Exactly, he seemed to popup a lot while negotiations were taking place to stir things up.

Still, he managed to get people singing "there's only one Gary Hoffman" and getting angry while the club was trying to negotiate rent with Wasps the first time. That's what leaking things on Facebook does.

He’s always been on a vendetta against the club when relations soured. The dumb as fuck trust leaders sucking up to Haskell was the lowest of the low

Hence why he almost certainly doesn't have sky blue blood running through his veins because a man in his position shouldn't be using his status to create further division in a fanbase that is already monumentally pissed off. He's been nothing but a thorn in the side of SISU as well as the club for years who's more interested in the politics than the club's performance. Anyone who says otherwise is so preoccupied with their hate for SISU that they can't see beyond their own nose.

Remember that game where David Johnson forgot he was boycotting to hold the "homeless" banner behind the dugout. The same one that CCFC staff mentioned getting abused by the dugout by people?

I think it was the same game Linnell was in Hoffman's box as well, Hoffman was very pally with the people who were holding the banner. Shaking their hands and being pally pally with them.

All gets funnier when we find out Wasps were involved with it all as well.

I'm not sure he was leaking stuff on to social media but he was discussing what was going on with far too many people and they were putting stuff on social media.

That's why there was a very strong rumour that a takeover had happened around Christmas time a couple of years ago.

Hoffman who seems to have carved out a career where he was rather fortunate to be seen to have done well. Truth is it did not need much to see what was wrong at places like Northern Rock. His inability to produce a coherent package for CCFC on no less than 4 occasions says all you need to know. Jobs for the boys I'm afraid.

You would think after the first time he told somebody something and it was spread on Facebook he would have stopped if he didn't want it to happen?

It was purposely done, the same as the pictures of him meeting with Wasps at the Ricoh with Joe Elliott.

It was always deliberate. Trust have always been easy to manipulate by Hoffman and Elliot. They’d have campaigned for Charles Manson to run the club if he’d offered the dribblers a seat on the board
