I remember seeing O'Donovan score in a pre-season game. Should have taken a video really, it'd be like the football version of that clip of Bigfoot wandering in the woods

yeah that was season when marlon king went birmingham i think

also known as the season we got relegated

So it looks like Deegan is nearly done-well according to the telegraph. Just makes the club again look like a laughing stock when they sacked him but are now happy for him to return.

As with Doyle, judging his ability in League Two based on his time in Championship seems counter-productive. If Shrewsbury fans would rather he stayed, and if he's performed in this league before, I'd be happy to have him back.

Bring back Roy O'Donovan! He's in exile in Australia playing for the Newcastle Jets. Won't ask for much! His Missus might though.
Still the worst player I have seen at CCFC.

I think he scored in a league cup game at somewhere like Bury on a weeknight...50cm tap-in that was going in anyway, but he claimed it. That was his only competitive goal for (I think).

Personally if he comes back he gets a clean slate from me from any previous performances, previous spell here.
I'd also be happy if he did come back, I'd rather a team of bullies and horrible c**ts as how many time have we been on the end of there boots, elbows on our arses looking at the ref who waves play on!
Get them in under MR and build a new DNA as we need a transplant to what we've had. Sure we still need to recruit our flair players and "players" who can get the goals but if you've a solid core it's a good base to build upon.

I know he has had attitude problems, but if he can behave himself maybe we could have a good player in him.

About time we had some players who can get stuck in. I think we missed that when Vincelot left.

We're talking League 2 standard here, there's room in starting 11 for 2/3 physical players that as long as they can win the ball and pass 5 yards the other outfield players can play the football.

I cant remember the last time we were physically stronger than anyone we've played... maybe its what we need now

I can't really remember much about Deegan, tigerish player but not sure if it makes us stronger, isn't he quite small? I think we need a lot more pace in the side.

weren't Doyle and Deegan in our team when we weren't physically as strong as the competition ?

See your point but they were with us when we were in championship before. Don't think we got relegated from championship cos we weren't physical enough... More because we couldn't play football! League 2 will be very different!

exactly, many on here keep saying league two is even more physical
Obviously its a different style of football, I'd say League 2 in general is more physical, naturally it must be because the football ability is lower. Far more players throwing their weight around and using strength than stepovers and flicks! Having a couple of extra players that can stand their ground can't do any harm

Deegan was inexperienced and the level was beyond Doyle. If we had signed these players and they'd never played for us I think the reaction would be positive.

See the CET have run this 'story' this morning. Hope it's not a 'goer'. Forgetting how good/not good Deegan is, we cannot afford to carry a player with a disciplinary record like his. We would effectively have him missing through suspensions for a period, notwithstanding any injuries he may be out for- therefore it is a no brainer NO from me.
He played 40 league games last year.

It won't be pretty next season but that type of player are exactly what you need on a wet and windy winters night mid week game infront of a few hundred fans

we beat wymcombe twice last year without a hard nut in midfield or big man upfront so im not sure you 100% have to be a pub team to do well in league 2

however they did dominate us in 2nd game so i welcome doyle and deegan. if we have a mix of everything we might have an exciting squad.

hopefully some official news on way for new signings.

Really don't get this 'he's the type of player we need' remark towards Deegan.

When Deegan was with us, he couldn't actually tackle (tackling being winning possession of the ball not giving away stupid fouls), he didn't intercept or read the ball with any great ability and his passing ability was inferior to the lad he played next to - Sammy Clingan!

Yeah, we need a Defensive Midfielder who can put their foot in and play it but Deegan is not the answer. Shame, as we had two players in Fleck and Vincelot that could do this pretty well and we've let both go, one way or other.

Deegan wasn't the answer before and since leaving us he's done little to suggest he's the answer now.

Yes we did beat them twice, with a 2-4 win at Adams park. But we did go 2-0 down, only to score 3 quick goals to get ahead.
However I think you've answered your own thought there. At what point did Wycombe start to dominate against us? The moment they introduced Adebayo Akinfenwa.
Sure you can still "play football" in league two but a physical edge or a big man up too give you a outlet and can gain a foothold in the game. When they put akinfenwa up top we could get out our own half for much of the second half.

So if mr deegan does sign for CCFC could we hope that he has changed as a player and a human being after his last stint here ?

- The lad that has political views not in line with 99.9% of the free world.
- player that nicknamed himself 'the pit bull or bull dog' and contributed next to nothing the season we were relegated. In fact should of been nicknamed the light lunch due to his inability to actually be physical in a game that season.
- the player that cuts his shorts down even shorter to show off his thighs in order to demonstrate a physical presence but only makes himself the laughing stock of the dressing room?
- don't start me in the fuckin Victorian beard I last seen him 'model'

I guess his warming to me over all...!

Think as usual fans are par-judging Deegan, if I remember correctly he got crocked not long after he joined us, ankle injury I think, was out a good while and came back too early and got injured again and never really featured regularly after. He's moved on, played regular and seems popular with fans,he'll do for me tough bastard in the middle of the park, to go with Doyle a nasty little bastard both know their way round it
