I know Gary Hoffman well (live near his Mum and Dad in Coventry).
Gary goes to nearly every CCFC game home and away; so it was no surprise to see him at the Bristol City game with his Dad (83) and son (10 or 11). He was sitting near the front (as was I), so his dad and son could see the game!
I know he hates attention and publicity but because he is a cov kid and fan for more than 40 years, who goes to almost all the games, he knows loads of sky blues fans and naturally shakes them by the hand and speaks about the game.
He just wants the best for City and is doing all he can whether we are in the Championship or Division One next season. However, it is not easy given everything that has gone on this season.
I am sure Gary Hoffman will not give up however much he gets criticised because he cares about the club, the fans and the community.
If you care too get behind him.

dead on 100% agree. some spiteful bas**ds on here at times....

Yep - walked out with him at the end of the game (didn't talk to him though). Actually had to double take it was him as he doesn't go about showing off or anything. Just seems a genuine fan who has worked hard to get to a position where he has the chance to influence how his football club is run. I'm sure we'd all love to be in the same position. He's clearly doing his best to get some sort of deal sorted, and i am under no illusions as to why its taking so long. I imagine if we were mid-table and safe then things might have gone faster. But given our revenue streams will essentially halve (best case scenario) if we go down - then its obvious that nothing can progress significantly until we know our fate.

All the stuff about work behind the scenes doesn't scare me either. Thats natural given the situation which, no matter what anyone thinks, is quite unique and extremely complex.

There's no need for the animosity towards Hoffman. It'll all come out in the summer so lets just wait and keep everything crossed for a positive solution.

Top bloke.

However, the bottom line that the Hoff is just the broker for a deal and is not putting his own money in....and to attract investors as a L1 club is harder than being a Championship team (as he told me at Blackpool).

It's AT and the players who need to care and get behind what the Hoff is doing...as the vast majority of City fans are backing the Hoff and hoping that he conjures a takeover from this mess.

Right now we need as many fans as we can get. I don't care about their background or what they do for a living. I saw Gary at the game, to be honest never spoke to the guy or Joe Elliot, all I know is they are Sky Blue fans and that is all that matters to me.

He can have all the best intentions in the world and be 100% genuine, but you can't blame people for remaining cynical. Our club and several others give people reason to, after all.

I used to ask him and Joe about the takeover at every away game, gave up after a few months due to them both being full of shit.

You all talk like you know him really well and you know whats in his mind, can't a fan enjoy the game with his father and son and not be ridiculed? :jerkit:

Obviously this required a brand new thread as it is so different from the posts on the other Hoffman thread below (you know the one you read about hand shaking and that would have been a good place to post a response). Looks like attention seeking is common within the inner circle.

I saw Gary Hoffman a few weeks back in Cov city centre and even though he has never met me before and we have never spoken to each other the bastard completely blanked me.

What a tosser.

Should have hummed some Judy Garland tunes to him.

And 'I Can't Give You Anything But Love Baby' could have left me with a sore arse.

Though at least I would have been a pound better off.

This thread is ending up the same as all the others. Why can't we all put our club first and stop personal insults

Was desperately trying to get Pearl In The Shell somewhere in my reply, but couldn't do it.

Actually, I did.

I'm not sure about any 'inner circle', especially not in the context of being a friend of Dorothy. I commented on the previous thread because he is a mate of my Dad's and someone was effectively calling him a knob for shaking hands and looking smug at Bristol City. As I was there and it was very apparent to me that this was a falsehood, I wanted to challenge that. I am not attention seeking on anyone's behalf, except my own. I am flash as fuck.

So what you're saying is, you know him a bit but haven't spoken to him for ages and definitely haven't asked him about any takeover. You know nothing about the takeover but thought you would start a thread saying how dedicated this fan of the club is, after all lets be honest he is JUST A FAN.

Guess what people I plan on putting a consortium together with My Dog, 9month old daughter and the 3 goldfish that live in my pond. Feel free to make a thread about our takeover bid and how you saw us (well me) at the Ricoh for every home game this season.

It might have something to do with the fact that I wasn't talking to you unless you're multi-accounting with Dorothy's? The point was that we already have a thread about Mr Shakey hands. This thread is clearly a response to that thread created, so I would have assumed that the best place to put it would have been on the same thread. Apologies for being constructive.
