That’s not what I’m trying to say at all. There is a difference between understanding a reason for someone doing something, and it being someone’s fault. Do I understand why people are carrying weapons to defend themselves? Yes. Is that their fault? Yes.
And yes, there is a difference. The person in Middlesbrough was a racist. Not an interest in protecting his community at all - although he’d probably say that was his reasoning, we all know that’s not the case.
