It makes little sense in some ways, but I suppose it's just become part of the uniform.

Seems to be very trendy these days to wave one.

Surprised the other side hasn't got a picture of Che Guevara.

I think it's a legitimate method of expressing discontent, Otis. It doesn't hurt or threaten anyone.

If the EDL were content to stand in front of churches waving the cross of St George, I'd be ok with that I guess. Better than burning down hotels, that's for sure.

I was at the Dover one a very long time ago and it most certainly wasn’t peaceful.

These things always start off that way, but things can turn so just have an exit strategy prepared!

I would have thought Canterbury itself would be a low turn out for the right, but the surrounding towns might change that.
Canterbury is not a hotbed of radicalism - quite a liberal place and lots of students. Think that's probably a teenager in a bedroom trying to stir up shite. Significant parts of Folkestone, Dover, Ramsgate, Margate, Ashford and Maidstone are predominantly white working class places that often fall for the EDL crap and sadly living and working in these areas I suspect something will kick off. North Kent thankfully more diverse and west Kent bit too posh for such blatant shenanigans. I am preying that Coventry stays quiet.

Respect to Gus Khan ... comedy can be diffusive and put things in perspective.

Why are there palestine flags being waved? I don't get it.

Seems like there's much more to that side than waiting for the "edl" also.

Its the wider issues that have been stoked to the foreground- they see milllions of people that they identify strongly with (ie Muslims) being wiped out & erased while the world seemingly does nothing about it, and the EDL has close ties to Israel.

and before anyone jumps down my throat, no I’m not ‘taking sides’, just stating the facts.

Sorry mate, but that's not right. It's not anti-semitic to show support for Palestine. That's not right at all. As for being on a roundabout, I guess that's a mini-protest. Are they attacking police yet?
I was just on about it being threatening.

Id see it the same as loads of Israel flags the other way round to be fair. I could see that being threatening towards a Muslim. Especially when being waved about by people in balaclavas.

Unless you're a Jew, I guess

My point is that they are on a roundabout in Birmingham with it.
*Unless you’re a Zionist.

Most of my Jewish friends have Palestine flags in their houses.

I lived in Canterbury for a few years, really liked it!

Unfortunately, this is genuine info as to what’s planned. However, these things change all the time and if they think they can’t get the numbers they often won’t even show.

We can't ban people from waving flags mate, Israeli or Palestinian. Threats and racism though, and I mean either way, that we should act on. Agreed.

Anyway isn't it time you popped out for some Monster Munch.

They’ll be a few trying that line in court. I was only racist because I didn’t know what the legal definition of racism was.

As I’ve stated previously Tony the one time you stopped the wumming and showed real passion was when you defended Nigel Farage against charges of racism.

You showed genuine anger and passion for once - it moved me to tears it really did

No I didn't say we could ban them just querying it.

Been very quiet here and nowt we can see on SM.

Lots of moaning and blaming Labour, but no-one supporting or advocating rioting or violence

Fair enough mate, happy to leave it at that. But look, if you won't go, I'm going to have to call it a night.

I might be late on this but some terrible videos around. A mob surrounding a car smashing all the windows and dragging the driver out in Hull. In Liverpool a lone motorcycle police officer hounded by a dozen or so and hit numerous times.

I didn’t defend Nigel, I defended the people who vote for his parties as not all being racist. Do you think we’ve a forgotten that you voted for one of his parties in an election? I defended you numb nuts and yet you somehow still try and find a way to turn that against me. Unless of course you’re confessing to being a racist and this is your way of telling me I got you wrong.

When questioned about people on the streets with weapons.

Could have condemned it, instead blame others.

This is what annoys people.
