Farage says Brexit party will not fight Tories in 317 seats in significant boost to Johnson's election chances
Farage says he weighed up Johnson’s promises, against the threat that the Brexit party standing could let the Lib Dems in.

  • Farage says the Brexit party will not stand against the Tories in the 317 seats they won in 2017.
But it will concentrate its efforts on seats held by the Labour party.

Get In!!!!!

Wether I like him or not is irrelevant to this point, but I think the smear job done on corbyn for the last few years will be too much to see him ever gain power, he could and should have stepped down in 2017, if Labour lose which I think they will, that's another wasted few years when they should have been putting together a strong opposition

What an embarrassing climb down for Farage. Surely that’s him done with politics now, even his most ardent supporters will struggle to not see through this.

Problems are growing for Labour now tbh, can see them getting a real hiding in some key areas

Jo Swinson and Caroline Lucas legitimised this action - Swinson now is tweeting away squeaking it’s not fair which even my her own standards is laughable - it seems they will still be standing in key marginals so I don’t really see what’s actually the plan

Swinson at it again.... everything is unfair to her!! Even if leave won again it would still be unfair

She's an idiot

So who pays the debt that we run up? Yes the next generations.

We have growth. We are not in recession....at the moment. Money needs to be spent in the right way. Putting future generations hundreds of billions in debt isn't a wise idea. You mentioned debt to GDP. So how good would it be if we took it to the max then have a recession?

What “Max”? And yes, money borrowed now leads to growth tomorrow. Does that mean you can borrow forever? No. Only if there’s spare capacity in the economy, which there is right now as we are at ZLB and the banks can’t do any more.

If we leave debt for the next generation, they will leave it for the one after that as long as growth outstrips interest it’ll costs them less than it does us. This is fairly basic economics.

Crashing the economy to own the Libs I imagined in my head.

Don’t know why people take the piss out of the intellectual capacity of your average Brexiter with such well thought through plans.

There is of course the scenario that actually this changes nothing for the Tories or maybe actually make things worse. In my experience UKIP and the Brexit Party has always taken more votes of Labour than the Tories. The opposite is also true of the Lib Dem’s, they take seats of the Tories easier than they do Labour. Especially if they’re remainers.
Then you’ve got the issue that they’re running in Labour seats where the Tories are hoping to make gains. Might be beneficial in marginal Labour seats but what about the safe Labour seats? Will they just be robbing Labour votes that the Tories might otherwise have won and need to win to get the swing required? Possible.
Then you get into the issue of Scotland where the Brexit Party votes were of no consequence anyway as the votes look like shifting to SNP.
All Ferage could have done is make sure it’s just as difficult for the Tories to take seats of Labour as it was always going to be while not splitting the Labour vote making it easier for Labour to win seats of the Tories in marginal Tory seats.

Brexit Party now seem to have launched a tactical voting app in the constituencies they are contesting which advise if to vote Brexit Party or Tory

Apparently Stoke a huge leave area the app advises not to vote for the Brexit candidate but Tory. It’s calculating likely areas where labour have a strong leave element and in those to vote Brexit Party

What about people who want to consider other issues besides brexit or are we planning on ignoring every other issue in the next parliment?

of course not. This is the point of electoral democracy and ghetto public decide their own priorities. The fact is without Brexit and the Brexit Party the Tories would be miles ahead in the polls. It’s really only this one issue that gives Labour any hope. It’s leaders and policies otherwise are rejected

I can kind of agree with that, but 2017 was his high - he'd run a dynamic and positive campaign, and increased his party's share of the vote after years of decline.

It's the procrastination in between elections wot does for him.

Farage claiming now he is going to turn down the peerage he was offered on Friday to not run in the seats they've dropped out of.

Why Labour were stupid to go for election before referendum.

Thats the danger for leave isn't it. As Brexit Party haven't pulled out completely you're now going to get situations like this which will boost the incumbent, in this case Labour.

Instead of the Convervatives needing to overcome a 7,650 deficit Brexit Party, lets assume thier votes are roughly equitable to UKIP, will need to overcome a 17,168 deficit.

It will all be weighed up come election day, the leave app has gone live anyway so people will know who to vote for to make sure Corbyn doesn't get in

I wouldn't guarantee it. But he must be getting something from it - why the sudden turn around to get a deal he apparently doesn't want? I'm sure there's more to this than we're hearing - he can't have just given up now after all those years.

That and coming out after not winning a majority last time and admitting he couldn't have afforded some of his pre election promises anyhow.

Well its what his buddy Trump wanted him to do and Trump doesn't do anything that isn't to his own personal advantage. Sure the peerage he was offered to drop out of those seats didn't cross his mind when making the choice.
