For those who were there...

Given how people speak about him, was it the right decision to let him go?

He's one my Granddad raved about, and so did many others it seems, and a big furore when he left but... his career fell down after us, really. And CCFC went up.

So was this something Hill got right, or something he got away with given the overall success?

Saw the headline and immediately thought we'd lost another one. Before my time but heard so many stories of his prowess on the field from older relatives and have genned up on him and others over the years out of sheer need to know about my club before my time.
I believe he was becoming a bit of a handful (as players always have and always will) and maybe a bit of fraternising with another players wife?

At the time, I was shocked and thought it was the wrong decision. The Hud wasn't just a prolific goalscorer. He was an crowd pleaser and entertainer too. I remember seeing a coach full of fans travelling to the next game with a banner under the rear window. It summed up what many of us thought of him: "HUDSON IS THE KING".

Subsequent events showed that JH wasn't too far off with his timing.

I chatted to a guy in a pub near me last October.I live in North side of Manchester. When he found out I was a Sky Blues fan , he asked me if Ive heard of George Hudson.I said yes a legend albeit a bit before my time. "Well he lives near this pub".
