They had less votes than the other parties combined and nobody would go into a coalition with them , hindenburg appointed hitler chancellor because of pressure from people around him in an attempt to control him.

They won elections once in power through violence and intimidation , they were never voted into power freely by the German people before 1933 , he entered power by passing the enabling act meaning laws could be passed without the reichstags approval

I must have watched a million hours of nazi footage 🤷‍♂️

I actually find that stuff interesting. No joke, the other night I watched one with Warwick Davies and a family of dwarves in Romania who ended up in the camps 😮

They won a plurality in two free elections before the seizure of power and were not the only party with paramilitaries at the time either. You're talking to someone just as into it 🤷‍♂️

There was no military or armed coup that got them into power, they got it legally.

I actually got the year wrong it was 1934 , but yes I become engrossed in historical documentaries and find myself watching hours upon hours of film about things that interest me , nazi history is always a fascinating watch

OK il answer for you , no adolf hitler was never voted into power by the German people before the enabling act .. the nazi party intimidated opposition and didn't allow others such as the communists to vote for or against the act and it was passed .. once hitler came to power because nobody could oppose it they won elections because they intimidated and killed opposition

He gained power legally after his party won 2 free elections. He would not have been made Chancellor without the ability to gridlock the Reichstag through having the most seats. After that and being made Chancellor yes that was the sequence of events, but even then contemporaries still assumed that the democracy was safe and he wouldn't go on to establish a dictatorship.

His plan was always to win power legally and then hijack the democracy afterwards. That's just objectively what happened and almost 100 years on, a neo Nazi party has done something similar to his 1930 result.

Well he won, but he also didn't.

Although he won the most votes, it wasn't an overall majority so that didn't give him enough overall control to run the country. To do that he had to be offered the Chancellorship, which he then used to dismantle democracy.

And during those elections his thugs were most definitely intimidating and beating people so you can argue he won them through violence.

I know it's just a small sidenote, but I always wondered what Eva Braun saw in him.

He wasn't an attractive man, was short and only had one testicle.

Always seemed just a tad bit angry too, like most artists.

By the way Hitler was seen as an answer to the rise of the far left by industrialists like Krupp and the centerist Liberals. They leaned on the weak and old President Hindenberg to appoint him Chancellor.

Honestly though, they need to do something. I'm just not sure what. You can't protect all pathways and pavements in the world.

If, as a number of people say, the problem is within Islam and the Muslim community, do you then have to kick every Muslim out of a country?

I would say this is pretty much impossible to stop. I just can't see how you stop people from using a car as a weapon.

The man has previous convictions, according to Schüssler, including one for drunk driving. He was also convicted of a hate speech-related crime in 2018 after he commented on a picture on Facebook, in what was adjudged to have been a politically motivated right-wing crime.

The suspected perpetrator was taken to hospital after shooting himself in the mouth with a blank gun, according to investigators. He is currently being treated and is in a stable condition.
