Ha ha history repeats itself
Jo Swinson becomes first woman to be elected leader of Liberal Democrats
Jo Swinson becomes first woman to be elected leader of Liberal Democrats
I'm embarrassed for anybody who votes for that lot on a purely anti-Brexit ticket
“I will do whatever it takes to stop Brexit”
Hahahaha love it, what a joke of a party.
Yes, fancy standing for an open tolerant Britain.. made you chuckle no doubt.
The Lib Dem’s only stand for a Britain that the Tories create for them...
ministerial positions > actually making the country better
I am for an open tolerant Britain even if that is not very „in“ at the moment. If they at least try, it’s better than an insular anti foreigner anti multilateral cooperation UK.
Agree with youNot quite as embarrassing as those voting for the Brexit Party based purely on a pro-Brexit ticket. Oh, unless you are comfortable voting for a party happy to put candidates forward who believe in the rights of those wishing to download child porn.
She’s got my vote .... just means feck all in the Midlands as our City is labour and it’s Tory in the village I live in.
Really exasperated listening to pro brexit booming Britain.... are people that daft to think we are better off.... pffffffffff
She's consistently voted with the government and helped facilitate austerity yet this appointment is being lauded by the centrists in Labour.
Just split the party now and let these fuckers go and do whatever it is they do in their little Hampstead bubble.
Yes, fancy standing for an open tolerant Britain.. made you chuckle no doubt.
Elected not appointed.
She voted for the government consistently when she was in the government. That's the way to works.
There are some exceptions; the Leader of The Opposition voted 428 times against the Labour government between 1997-2010, and with the vast majority of Conservative MPs (and against almost all his Labour colleagues) during the 2010-15 coalition on several occasions - including on Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures Bills (he voted with most Tories on three parts of this Bill's passage, on the length of transition period during which Control Orders remained in place, the transfer of resources during the switch from Control Orders to TPIMs and the relocation of Terrorist suspects) and the Protections of Freedoms Bill. All of these might have been tactical (voting with the Tories because he believe the legislation to be too right-wing, while they contend it's not right-wing enough) but this record makes it extremely hard to demand loyalty when you're suddenly in charge of the Whip.
They are more inclined to think it can’t be much worse when they’ve been shat on for 40 years...
You’ve failed to mention the hundreds of times he went against the whip to try and defend the poor, vulnerable, disabled, disenfranchised and those of minority faiths, sexuality and religion.
Imagine a Labour Party during the coalition that ABSTAINED on welfare sanctions and benefit cuts that would have contributed to the deaths of thousands of people.
I for one am glad he at least has some principles unlike Swinson.
But they’d prop up a Tory govt in a heartbeat... not exactly an advert for an open tolerant Britain is it??
Not a foregone conclusion. Anyway, more likely to be dealing with labour than the Tories.

Just another anti democracy party.
Yes, fancy standing for an open tolerant Britain
Not really no.Like BXP. Führerprinzip Party.
Yes, fancy standing for an open tolerant Britain.. made you chuckle no doubt.
...by seeking a vote by the people. Not really no.
The bxp stand for delivering the democratically voted will of the population.
The liberal party are actively seeking to block the will of the people.
...by seeking a vote by the people.
Why would a leader whose more Tory than some tories side with labour?
The only dumb is considering democracy something where people are not allowed to change their minds, and not allowed to voie once they have better knowledge of the facts. Why are we still doing this, still playing dumb.
They haven't even delivered on the first vote yet, that's not democracy full stop
Exactly, the irony however is completely lost on them....by seeking a vote by the people.
The only dumb is considering democracy something where people are not allowed to change their minds, and not allowed to voie once they have better knowledge of the facts.
The only dumb is wanting parliament to be sovereign, but not wanting parliament to be sovereign.
Actually, the most anti-democratic stuff around here are the lazy one-liners with zero substance behind them. They're the territory of the intellectually absent.
And as you well know, it's Rees-Mogg and co. that have stopped us leaving, so it appears the ERG are the most anti-democratic bunch of the lot.
So... blame the ERG for stopping us leaving! They're the undemocratic ones!No I'm saying that the original vote must be implemented first... Then the country can look and see if the correct decision was made several years down the line... Much like a normal election.
We don't just throw tantrums and decide to fuck over 52% of the nation because of feelings
