Grimes Sheaf Rudoni (3 Viewers)

Now they are all fit simultaneously and we are getting towards the business end of the season is there a better midfield trio in the Championship? We finally saw Ben Sheaf back to his best and the blend of the 3 looks exciting. West Brom pundits were quick to point out that they were destroyed in midfield yesterday . Great point in the season to have all of them fit and firing.

Yep, they certainly have been good last couple of games. I hope Sheaf can stay fit as he is back playing and contributing as he should be.

If both were 100% fit and on form who is the better fit for us? My punt is Grimes even though he is in £ terms valued at less. I would love Grimes to use those wonderfully precise passing skills a bit further forward

Some of the disrespect towards Sheaf this season has been a joke, he's clearly a great player that was going through a sticky patch.

(ignoring the relentless disrespect from one particular poster).

I think having Grimes as the sitter allowing Sheaf to roam more really suits him too.
I find it funny that those that personally insulted sheaf don't get to enjoy this now even though they will pretend they are

It's a balancing act isn't it really? Having Grines sit where Sheaf usually does allows Sheaf a bit more freedom and that's why we're starting to see Sheaf almost back to his best. I think if we can keep them together and fit next season they'll get a better understanding. One can float whilst one sits and vice versa. Not many teams in this league could cope with them too switching and changing throughout a game.

I'm sure everyone on here enjoys us doing well even though some definitely don't like shifting their opinion on player.
Thinking a player is playing shit when they are in fact playing shit is ok though and it's not a gotcha when they start playing well.
There is a difference between saying a player is shit and a player is out of form

Saying they are shit is saying they are just a bad player full stop and not good enough

And getting personal well that's just ridiculous

Well away from the personal stuff, it's just the way fans talk, it's not that deep. This is from someone who's always rated most of our squad (hence i got a lot of stick for wanting Robins out rather than writing off all our players.)
Happily say Bidwell is shit atm and don't expect to get pulled up on it.

Shit ATM is very different to bidwell is a shit player and shouldn't be in squad and needs to be sold etc etc

You might not think it's deep but it is something I think is dumb and I do pull up people on it as they like to pretend it never happened when that player does well

Looking on YouTube at the replay of Grimes goal yesterday I am quite impressed.

Yes, it’s true that Swift was asleep at the wheel, but Grimes was alert to the opportunity as soon as Swift was in possession. Grimes sprinted forward, got the ball and finished it nicely.

It was a lovely goal for a defensive midfielder 👍

Next to Sheaf, Grimes looks a totally different player. It’s no surprise we’ve strung 2 good performances together when Sheaf is finally back. He’s a tremendous player and we will miss him badly when he goes.

Yes, Eccles Allen and Torp! 😍😍😍

In all seriousness though, that's some excellent quality in that area of the pitch.

If we could get a top striker in and a couple of experienced defenders, we would be quite some outfit.

Was thinking this. We won’t keep everyone but if we did it’s just a ST, RW, CB and LB of the same quality as the rest of the first team and we’re top four easy IMO.

A good example of how to successfully press as a team - first Simms, then Wright penned them into an area they didn't want to be &, as you say, Grimes right there to capitalise brilliantly.

When Grimes was in West Broms penalty box to score his goal, I thought what the f*** was he doing up there, then I thought, oh yes being an X England midfielder can rub off on players. 😍

Simms is doing such a good job pressing vs. what he did under Robins. Bloke seems pretty coachable.
Yeah. He was the same for a period under Robins last season too tbf. Took a while to find his feet but then he was phenomenal in the cup run.

There's a player in there despite some pretty obvious technical flaws & we're a better side with him in it imo.

I can understand why fans (and coaches) get frustrated with him because there's potentially so much more to get out of him. I suspect his nature as a bit of an introverted personality may ultimately hold him back.

If we dont go up,I think we should hold on to Sheaf this summer and next season with the 3 of them will surely see us challenging for promotion, Sheaf might then stay with us if we get promoted

Sheaf will stay/renew his contract imo. He’s had a challenging year so any serious Prem interest has presumably gone so his best option is to help us get promoted this/next season.

Would be tempted to bring in his succession plan (whoever that may be) to become 4th choice with a view to displacing him during the season. Eccles makes way for me.
