Christmas rest for Gunnarsson

Coventry City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson has been handed a three match ban as a result of his red card against Norwich last Saturday.

Gunnarsson received the red card for a dangerous tackle on Henri Lansbury. He will now miss the busy Christmas period, but will only miss a week of football.

Gunnarsson slipped as he went into the tackle and ended up with both feet off the ground as he caught Lansbury.

I think this is a bit harsh considering the conditions in which we were playing, and I think we really needed him! Fingers crossed we don't miss him too much over Christmas

It never deserved a 3 match ban... the ref played on for a short while the rules state "If the referee gives a team advantage to play-on after a foul red card can not be shown" he clearly played an advantage then gave a red card? fucking joke

Unfair sending off. I think the opposing players had too much of an influence on the ref that game. Good rest for Gunnarson, will look sharp and a good option after a hectic week for our other boys.

I've watched the replay a few times and I have to say it's a certain red. Ok, the conditions were bad and he slipped just before the tackle but he ends up going in two footed with the studs showing. It's also a bit unfortunate that it's a 3 match ban but i'm guessing it's set to the type of tackle.
