It’s not a like for like comparison, Walsh was creative in league 1 but unproven in the Championship and by all accounts Sheaf was decent for Doncaster but the step up is proving tough for Sheaf and I don’t think Kelly’s injuries have helped him.But we’re a club that rely heavily on stats in a lot of areas and that has helped us return to the championship. Sheaf completely has to cut the mistakes out of his game, you’ll get no argument from me on that but I am fully confident he will. Liam Walsh made a lot of similar errors in league 1 for us and this fan base treats him as Xavi reborn. I also think you need to look at the rest of his game, last night everything good went through him and we completely lost our shape when he went off.

You said he "looks to" pass to the CBs as in that's his aim. It's simply not true. He passes backwards 18% of the time & forward 30% of the time.
Hamer passes backwards only very marginally less.
Sheaf should be better in the air given his night, that is one part of his game there is obvious improvement IMO.
On the passing accuracy in the opp half how many passes is it based on?
When he passes forward he could still be passing to defenders as he gets himself far too deep.
I actually think Sheaf will be a good player in time but at the moment still thinks he is in the under 23’s and he gets caught on the ball in the wrong places.
Hyam gives away the ball at least twice as much on dangerous places and is hailed as the next Maldini on here. People have just taken a dislike and not post silly things like “send him back” and “thinks he’s in the U23s”.
He plays like under 23 players do like they have all the tine in the world, personally players like Hyam and the other centre backs shouldn’t have the ball in dangerous places they need to move it on to players further forward, mistakes around the half way line can be defended its much more difficult on the edge of your own box.
I don’t mind Sheaf and as I said will become a good player
You’ve pinpointed something there and that’s the type of player he is, a deep lying playmaker. People are comparing him to Kelly who is a traditional defensive midfielder, they sit in the same part of the pitch but have a very different role.Think that's fair although he's 'only' 6'1 whereas Kelly is 6'2. Think Sheaf looks taller than he is because of his lean body.
I think there's quite a bit he can improve on physically as well as cutting out the mistakes.
As you rightly say though he's 22 years old, playing in a new team in a new league.
He is an excellent deep lying playmaker imo & will have a very successful career but others just can't see it.

Kelly is extremely important for us at the moment but if we ever want to move forward from just battling relegation in this league then we’re going to need players like Sheaf and we just don’t have the financial muscle to buy finished articles.
I still refuse to believe Kelly is 6ft 2 until i see someone stood next to him with a tape measure.Think that's fair although he's 'only' 6'1 whereas Kelly is 6'2. Think Sheaf looks taller than he is because of his lean body.

That part of the game is easy my manager used to say if in doubt fuck it out as in put it into row zIt’s not a like for like comparison, Walsh was creative in league 1 but unproven in the Championship and by all accounts Sheaf was decent for Doncaster but the step up is proving tough for Sheaf and I don’t think Kelly’s injuries have helped him.
Both goals last night just needed a boot out of play, easier said than done but was possible.

Passes Completed in Opps Half:
Hamer 330
Sheaf 323
Kelly 122
You think he sits deeper than the CBs?? Mental.

Where did I say sits deeper than the cbs?
Everything you send is great but it proves that Hamer does more productive things in the right areas it is closer than people would think, Hamer looks busier and is the only one of the midfielders that looks likely to get a goal.
Sheaf will be a quality player for city
It's funny the first year in league 1 every1 said we not ready for championship promotion
Yet now everyone angry we are not ready for prem lol
No such thing. We are 17th and doing fineThink being honest even after 2 seasons we’ve gone up early
Apologies, what did you mean by "pass forward to defenders" then?
But that's Hamer's role, Sheaf's is completely different & he's very good at it. That's the point I'm making but some people don't understand his role at all.
Yes, he's making too many mistakes but as others have pointed out so have many of our other players but they're not criticised as heavily.
I still refuse to believe Kelly is 6ft 2 until i see someone stood next to him with a tape measure.
Sellotaped to your bedroom ceiling? He's 6'2" fully erect - think I've seen a photo somewhere?
