We have maxed out on the loans already. I'm assuming you bin off Panzo to avoid pissing off the other parent clubs?

Depends on form really. Can rotate who you drop or send em back. Not sure it would piss them off too much. Shit happens in football.

Godden and Walker should be OK to see a season out .. let's be honest

They were fine first season up. We wouldn’t get the play offs without Vik but people are only thinking we’d go down cos we’re on a bad run and everyone’s wetting the bed right now.

The idea that without Vik we wouldn’t score any goals is ridiculous. He hits about his xG. Any half decent striker would score, even if not quite as much. Plenty of time for a cheeky loan until the end of the season. Someone like Undav who would score in this division and is an available.

Even on £20k/week that’s less than £1m outlay from whatever fee we get then lots of time to plan a rebuild. Unless Doug is promising £15-20m out his own pocket in the summer you’d be nuts not to sell.
But that £15-20 million will be there in the summer, we need to guarantee our championship position I’m sure we will, but also although it looks a bit of a long shot put a run of results together we ain’t that far from the play-off spots.

You do seem desperate to sell him been on about it constantly for weeks.

Because it’s guaranteed and anything could happen. We saw that with O’Hare. We have to sell players to progress. And who knows how long a summer transfer would take. Sell him now and not only are you likely to get more cos people are desperate but you have months to line up signings that can hit the ground running pre season.

Bird in the hand and all that.

For us to develop , under a proper business model without spending other people's money , we need to sell high and buy low ..

15 -20 mill in theory allows the club to upgrade in several positions and still allows ownership a nice bonus

No problem selling him just the idea of trying to replace him with hardly any time left and the market knowing we've just had a big fee come in seems a bigger risk than others are suggesting.

It does, but trying it in the last few days of the January window isn't the time.

I don’t think it’s the end of the world if we don’t. Godden and Walker are fine lower mid table strikers. Well have Fadz back next week and a decent CB on loan so our defence should pick up. Honestly I’ve written this season off and it’s all about the summer now.

Also .. the club have no chance of him signing an extension.. he's a wanted man , wanted above the level we play at

More wages than we can offer

(Watch him sign an extension now 😂)

I don't think we will go down , with or without vik this season
Here's hoping you're right. Godden's fitness is always a question and Walker is as bereft of confidence as physically possible.

Oh I totally agree, but it's not like the interest will disappear in the summer assuming he's got near 20 goals.

Maybe Im scarred by that McAllister season where we stunk the place out after Xmas and scraped to 50pts but just feels too close to deadline day.....and Allen is then our top scorer 👀

If Doug `does a McGinnity' I hope Robins is prepared cos he's gonna feel a right charlie saying theres zero chance of Vik going in Jan

Will it really be there in the summer? One year left on his contract? What’s to stop him running it down and we get nothing? Don’t get me wrong I don’t want him to go but if Everton are desperate and are willing to pay c£20m for him it’s a no brainer surely?

Are you overlooking the fact that he creates half of his opportunities pretty much single handed? Are Godden or Walker going to pick up the ball miles from goal and force their way into shooting positions like Vik does?
Having waited a couple of decades for a decent centre forward, I can't believe the enthusiasm on here for selling him.

Why would he run his contract down? Would be wasting a year if his career and losing out on a considerable amount of money.

I’m surprised Victor hit’s his xg, he misses a lot of chances.

Crucially though, he creates chances himself, especially without Callum.

Godden, when fit, is a better finisher, but where’s it coming from?

So Everton have just sold Gordon to Newcastle for £45million with 4 days to go until the window closes - I can definitely see them giving Doug a call with 18-20million being put on the table!
This will be a serious test for Doug that’s for sure.
Will he? I think he will.

I know it's ridiculous, I'm sure Frostie posted some stats about how many he creates for himself, which is miles ahead of any other players in the league. At least half his goals he has created himself. Hes a 1 man wrecking ball who drags us up the pitch 30-40 yards single handedly. The idea we wouldn't miss him and we would score as many goals without it him is ridiculous.

Or the idea we’d spend more than £1m on a replacement

I really don’t get the people saying they would sell him. Madness.

We could sell him for around £15mil now (his rough value in my opinion) or, we could sell him for £15mil in the summer, possibly a tad more. Why sell now? Other than a risk of serious injury there is no sensible reasoning.

Exactly. If he carries on playing as well for the rest of the season his value goes up not down. He still has a year left on his contract, and it wouldn't be in his interests to run it down.

Knowing Everton are now cashed up and desperate I’d be holding for £20m

Problem is, if we sell we are in exactly the same position as them with less time on the clock before the window closes. We will have to massively pay over the odds to get someone through the door. Unless we are clear 4-5million over our valuation I don't see how it makes sense.

It’s clearly not just the goals with Vik though, he’s often the only option route we have to go forward and keep the ball, without Ohare anyway

I think we are in a fairly good position. Everton are desperate, end of the window etc. we can ask for stupid money. Vik may kick off for a couple of days but get until past the window and he would get over it and have to knuckle down until the summer to get a good move again
