He bangs in 5 in his first 5 games and the same people will be the first to say he's worth £15m.

He has multiple seasons as a 1 in 2 scorer in a good league which is ranked almost identically to the championship

how much would a similar player in this league go for?
All I’m saying is I don’t believe we would be spending £8m on any player at this time. I think the fee is significant lower in my opinion.

I bet we have looked at British players and we’re quoted sums of £8m hence why we have looked abroad.

I know this site often Is way out on valuation but it looks like they rate Hadji above Simms which surprised me a bit I thought they'd be fairly even.

yeah, and wil only ever hit the full amount if we go up

You can't possibly know that. The structure of the deal has been reported in the Turkish press. Of course payments will be phased, as will our payments from Sporting Lisbon, but just because one deal has a promotion clause it doesn't mean this one does.

Looking at some of his highlights it seems obvious why he has drawn attention and bids from a few clubs? He’s quite technical and skilful, can carry the ball up the pitch, good at linking up play, excellent at holding off defenders, very calm in front of goal, has scored goals in a decent European league and has good amount of international experience. To me he looks like he could be very good in the Championship.

All those things are going to cost you a few million. Compare that to Vic who cost about a million and at that point has only shown a few glimpses of a few of those traits.

Fee might be a little high but looks like the market has pushed up his price a bit and they want to maximise their income like we did with Vic.

From highlights alone I can’t see where the negative comments from US fans are coming from. I’d imagine you’d need to watch him over the course of a few full games, but fans can quickly get on the back of big players who can look clumsy when they don’t pull things off.
Referring to my last para this is a useful video to watch. 2 goals and an assist in the game but you can see he can be frustrating where what he’s trying doesn’t come off. Some of it is he’s getting a lot of physical attention from defenders and drawing fouls but some of it is decision making, speed of thought, and probably could be improved with coaching.

Takes a good penalty at least.

So reminiscent of Gyokeres

Lots to be excited about in that video.

Can't expect perfection. Only people that will moan about him are same ones that ignore 9 great Palmer passes to focus on one that didn't make it to it's destination.

Those fans are a lost cause and we shouldn't worry about them

Agreed. MR seems to be spending throughout the pitch and don’t think he’d use too high a proportion of his budget on one player.
He did say a couple of weeks ago of another 9 coming let’s be honest leaving us all scratching our heads a bit, I’m losing count but think we have had five since that statement, can’t keep up what a close season we are having.

For the amounts spent in relation to the money we had available I'd say they're comparable. Hamer was our biggest fee since Freddie Eastwood, Gyokeres was a similar amount and paying instalments of the latter was significant enough to disrupt our cashflow just last season. So at the time they also represented considerable gambles on the club's part.

We aren't spending money we don't have.

Gyokeres didn’t cause cash flow issues - the increased wage bill was the issue

I think he looks good there. No player does everything right all of the time. If you looked at Gyokeres' contributions in a match there would be plenty of mistakes as well as the good parts.

People here don’t know what they’re talking about half the time. This is an absolutely massive coup for a Championship club.

He has a 1 in 2 goal ration in a decent league where there are a lot of technical players plus defenders like to play tough with attackers.

He has just turned 25 and is an international striker who scored at the World Cup.

Here’s a list of clubs that have bid for him or shown strong interest in him:

Rangers
Crystal Palace
Brentford
Villareal
Inter Milan
Sevilla
Galatasary
Fenebarche
Besiktas
Southampton

These are not mug clubs and they know a good thing. We want to be back in the mix for a promotion push, and with Wright and Simms that means at least 30 goals between them, but it will be higher in my opinion.

We won’t be paying big money without doing some bloody thorough homework. Exciting times to be a Coventry fan!

Absolutely but some fans will quickly criticise players when they make mistakes. Even when what he tries doesn’t come off he’s a handful, much like Gyok.

According to Believer the Gyo instalments were a factor

Wages were well over a million a month when we weren’t playing - that’s always the issue - the fees are one thing - it’s the wage bill that needs funding consistently over time

Don’t you think selling nearly 19000 seasons tickets, nearly six thousand new and at proper prices helps the increased wage bill.

Depends if it substitutes from pay on the gate customers doesn’t it?
