But people are going way too far with stuff along the lines that he's not good enough to be a pro footballer.I mean when things are going badly it’s safe to assume people will write accordingly, don’t need to look or be surprised
And at games, for now anyway, they sing his name and clap him off despite him helping us lose 2 points. When it turns toxic at games is when there’s a problem. But people are going way too far with stuff along the lines that he's not good enough to be a pro footballer.
Maybe, and maybe Wright can too, time will tell. The difference is gyo could run with ball and make his own chances, and I think Simms could have that in his armoury, but I’m not so sure about wright his control don’t look great at the moment.
And that is clearly bullshit. All the same, if I was doing my job and someone said I wasn't fit to do it (it has been known!), I wouldn't give up and quit, I'd try to prove them wrong. But people are going way too far with stuff along the lines that he's not good enough to be a pro footballer.
Agreed, and we have to hope he'll make people eat their words. I believe he can.And that is clearly bullshit. All the same, if I was doing my job and someone said I wasn't fit to do it (it has been known!), I wouldn't give up and quit, I'd try to prove them wrong.
It's the price tag, isn't it? If he'd been £2m we'd still remember his goal, the Leicester near miss, and his part in the built up to a couple of Godden goals. And without the expectation that the fee brings, his head wouldn't have dropped so rapidly.Agreed, and we have to hope he'll make people eat their words. I believe he can.
So we should not discuss things because of "vibes"? Is that even a real thing? So if I type something on here it goes into the ether or becomes part of some social critical mass where all the players know what we type?
I'm sure twitter and facebook are more of a problem in that anyway, that's a platform that almost every player will have anyway. They're asking for trouble if they seek out Sky Blues Talk!
And that is clearly bullshit. All the same, if I was doing my job and someone said I wasn't fit to do it (it has been known!), I wouldn't give up and quit, I'd try to prove them wrong.
I might not know what the word means now, as in I think it might have changed since "my era"! Do you simply mean "the atmosphere in the dressing room" Or is it the crowd?Vibes are a definite thing. And a vibe of “we’re fucked” will run off on the players. I’d argue it’s their fault we think that though. If they showed a little fight and/or quality we might not be so glum.
I've been shouted at and one manager told me on their first day "Listen, I've not heard good things about you and as far as I am concerned, I want you out that door as soon as possible". Did the same with 3-4 other people who left. I stuck it out a year, proved her wrong and outlasted her. I agree that it doesn't always work though! How many people boo you at work?
This is some primary school level sports psychology right here.

Is that what's happening? That’s not quite the same as 20k people shouting you’re shit.
80% stayed! Also “I had a shit manager and only 75% of staff left” isn’t exactly an endorsement
Well it's not like fans can automatically be happy with poor football, can they? And overpaid/underperforming record signings in particular.Yeah atmosphere, basically. But around the whole club. Same way people said the club was buzzing when we got to the playoffs. Players interact with fans and pick up on the mood of the crowd. It’s a definite thing. I’m not sure what you can do though.
There's a sobering thought. Maybe he'd do better in the Prem with us playing more direct/counter like we did last season! It may have been mentioned already, but if we were pursuing Haji before the playoff final, does that mean we'd have bought him if we'd been promoted?
Loads of people were slagging him off and said he wasn't good enough (i'm not saying you did). Here's a few from a quick search:Gyo was quite a bit younger when he arrived and had been recovering from COVID initially, but he clearly had something about him.
Wright is 25 and far more expensive but looks devoid of any self belief.
Not for me
Gyokeres did very little given his chance to start today. Not interested in signing backup players, would rather look to improve the first XI and the squad in that way. So thanks but no thanks.
If I have to choose between Gyokeres or Biamou I’d take Max but we need another as priority buying strikers is a nightmare for any manager, going back over our history of big money at the time signings failures Chris Chilton, Kevin Drinkell, Bobby Graham, Tony Hateley all regular goal scorers at the time but all flopped here and probably our best Ian Wallace was a bargain at£40k.
If we are to progress next season a better striker than all of our options this season is required. Obviously finding one is the difficult part
I wouldn't touch Gyokeres, I think we'll go into the summer with Walker as first choice and try to find someone to play along side him, maybe go with a target man.
Style of player mostly. Doesn’t seem to be the target man we needed and seemingly has been tried and failed at this level already. At least with Gnanduillet (sp?) there’s a chance he can step up. And last season he did better than any of our strikers in L1.
We're not talking about Gyokeres though are we.Loads of people were slagging him off and said he wasn't good enough (i'm not saying you did). Here's a few from a quick search:
And many many more.
Quite possibly, yes. Although he'd have had better players around him and expectations may well have been lower. It may have been mentioned already, but if we were pursuing Haji before the playoff final, does that mean we'd have bought him if we'd been promoted?
He’s 25.I'm well up for giving him some time, he looks incredibly raw for this league but Gyok did too. His price tag is definitely an issue as people are expecting to see the finished article rather than a player with potential. We have to buy players with potential otherwise we'd be trying to spend the same money we got for Gyok and Hamer on one player replacements who we wouldn't be able to afford the wages for. It's tough cause we all remember we were a few kicks from the premier league but it's where we are at.
1,000,000 - 1What are the odds on Tavares to outscore him and be a better player?
Unfortunately for Tavares, Wright has already managed to equal his goal tally and the former will likely never play again for us.What are the odds on Tavares to outscore him and be a better player?

Well they both have beards.he really isn’t
Bosh a tenner on that then, (see now my logic here is if I say haji’s gonna be shit then Im gonna get proved wrong like almost always)1,000,000 - 1

From what I have seen in Tavares (cant be more than 180 mins) hes more ability and x factor. From the 500 plus mins I have seen of Wright and the 180 mins of Tavares. I'd be developing Tavares rather than that lump. What are the odds on Tavares to outscore him and be a better player?
Well one is a full international and the other is only a few years younger and has hardly played any first-team football and looks way out of his depth at this level.Bosh a tenner on that then, (see now my logic here is if I say haji’s gonna be shit then Im gonna get proved wrong like almost always)
And the position he plays is arguably the toughest on the pitch, which is why plenty of big strikers only grow fully into the role relatively late in their careers. Haji hasn't played in a league like this before so we have to give him time to adapt, and more support in the form of runners from midfield. He’s 25.
