He does look a worrying signing to me for £7 million, he’s like a modern day Adebola. I’ve got to give him more time as I keep telli my self Vik looked pretty poor when he first signed aswell. But I am worried about him

I’m not suggesting he contributed a great deal, I just think there were way worse performances from others that are being largely ignored.
He is our record signing ever in over 100+ years. Eccles the academy kid looked average also, but we can't judge them by the same standard in terms of expectations!

It's not his fault he cost 8 million pounds but whoever did the due diligence needs to be sacked for gross negligence based on what we have seen so far this season.
I would also like to know how many live matches Robins and the team watched before buying him!

That new recruitment team needs to be gone now so we can prepare for Januarys window.

We have pissed best part of £10m up the wall. No way can they be allowed to influence Januarys signings.

Binks, de silva and Lata best three signings and cost nothing. Says it all.

When they signed him King said they had been watching him since Jan. Would love to know how in-depth this scouting process was. Absolutely raging with the summer recruitment at the min. My hopes for an enjoyable season have evaporated this last week. We look an absolute shit side.

At the very least I’d sack the entire recruitment team. It’s been an unmitigated disaster and we can’t risk spending the rest on their recommendations.
Chris Badlan got slated for signing Kastaneer and Bouwe Bosma, while people on here were singing Dean Austin’s praises all summer.

He was quite good first season? Made some silly errors, but showed his class and promise plenty of times?
He showed glimpses of what was to come, but a lot of people were asking if we had to sign him even at the end of the season. Some players just settle quicker than others. We’ve seen the odd bit from Wright already, but it’s just not happening for him yet.

We’re not playing anywhere near as quick or direct as last season which would play to his strengths. It will come eventually. He’s started 4 games. Way too early to judge properly

Me neither I was nervous we were spending huge sums on players and was worried about Kitching for 4.5m and got a few pelters. We had 20m and our recruitment team gambled it away while solid signings (that were used to) like Lati and Binks who cost next to nothing look promising.

Honestly, he’s playing like a player that hasn’t ever played at a good standard. Like someone who has only really ever played in Turkey and the US. Or like someone who played in Holland 19/20 season and failed to score in over 20 games.

HE PlaYeD aT THe WoRld Cup.

Absolute shambles.

I honestly don’t see anything outstanding as a main attribute in him at all.

What were the recruitment team seeing that we aren’t as I’d love to know!

I think that MR has earned the chance to rectify this with what he's done over the last few years, and if that means the recruitment team have to carry the can for the current problems then so be it.

Surely MR briefed them on what types of player he was after and had the final say?
The recruitment team’s job is to identify potential signings and recommend their abilities to the manager. The buck stops with Robins, but if he’s being sold duds when he was assured they were diamonds, that falls on the recruitment team who were trusted with finding gems.

Sure, but the way we went hell for leather to get Kitching at a rip off price suggests Robins was quite invested in his signing as one example.

Will be expensive to sack off these scouts just after bringing them in too. Wonder if they have a probationary clause that lets us bin them early.

I’m not saying there’s no chance for Wright but the comparison is mental. Sheaf was a technically very good player making silly mistakes. Wright looks lost with a football
Oh he looks shite at the minute, I’m not disputing that. The only comparison is people writing them off. People didn’t want us to sign Sheaf at the end of the season when you could clearly see his potential. We’ve just not seen enough from wright yet. It’ll come though, I hope

Sure, but Kitching was likely recommended to Robins by the scouting team (who apparently did little else than watch old Barnsley DVDs this summer) and convinced him he was the answer to the LCB issue that Robins clearly wanted to solve. MR isn’t out there unearthing all these guys himself, that’s what Austin and co are there for.

Which brings me onto another point that I’m not going to drop - why the fuck has our most expensive ever defender not started a single game since signing on deadline day?

Christ knows. Robins’ judgment seems miles off at the moment and he’s been windmilling a bit in his interviews.
