Remember Vik had nothing behind him when we bought him, cov made him into the player he is, obv he worked very hard at it to achieve it etc. If wright holds the ball up like vik did even half as much he could be good.

I cant help thinking that wright is a bit miffed that hes been bought for £7m and cant get a start, and doesnt play well (mentally, or just doesnt get into the game that way) when he comes on with 20mins to go.

The main problem isnt Simms, wright and godden, its the midfield. vik would not be getting goals with the midfield we have at the moment.

Can we stop with this nonsense. Gok and Hamer are talented quality players. You can help bring it out with good coaching but you can’t create talent.
It a rare quantity and very hard to replace. Which is a warning to anyone who said sell for 10, 15, £20m and buy a new squad. It doesn’t work

It does when you spend how you have the last five windows and don’t suddenly go all Poundland Abramovich.

course they are, but whether is nurture or nature cov gave them the time and the coaching to develop. theres no doubt that simms/wright are talented players, and theyre not a direct replacement for Vik, but we had them for what 7 games? and you're all expecting them to be top scorers, yeah theyve missed chances, but theyll come good, IF they put the work in.

Reckon Ayari might be one of those loans who drifts out of memory.
I think he will come good as long as expectations of him aren't too high in the short term . He's already showed enough to see there's a talent there and someone who is willing to get forward and pick a pass . Hope the fan base give him time to develop and not overburden him to replace Gus

As much as Hadji has looked a complete and utter donkey at present the midfield are absolutely dreadful, just nowhere near good enough to be playing regularly in the championship our engine room is a misfiring 50cc put put.
Maybe time to try something different at the back so at least the defence can move up to close the gap and hopefully push our midfield further up the pitch which means dropping our stalwart Fadz to the bench

I think we fell foul of people knowing we had money burning a hole in our pockets in the summer

There is no doubt we paid a premium for some players. Always happens when clubs know you’ve got cash to burn. The meltdown on recruitment is way too earlier in my book though.

Player by player I think it will turn out ok but you throw in the amount of changes, injuries to key players and not being able to get a hamer replacement before window closed makes it look worse.

Time will tell but most are young and will improve once settled and get more experience in the league

Has Wright looked like a £7m player so far? No. Does he deserve the grossly over-the-top criticism throughout this thread? Again no. The guy clearly has ability, and if you haven’t seen any merit at all in his highlights footage or his performances for us you are blinkered.

If his effort at Leicester had gone in off the bar, and he’d reacted better at close range last night (as I’m sure he would 9 times out of 10) he’d be on 3 goals and a couple of assists this season. It’s hard to read his character, but he’s in a very new environment so if you support the City give the guy a break.

He's still having his name chanted at games so the crowd hasn't turned on him yet.

People are also forgetting Rangers had a £7m bid rejected. A couple of Turkish clubs fancied him but Antalyaspor wouldn’t sell to rivals and Palace and others have been linked in the past. All means nothing if he doesn’t do the business but there is obviously more to Wright than what we’ve seen so far…apart from that Leicester effort !

Same as Simms with Ipswich and Sunderland having bids similar to ours (without maybe the add ons for promotion) rejected

Wright reminds me very much of Adebola, and his start with us has been similarly bad as Adebola's was. Like Adebola in time I suspect Wright will have the odd worldie game where he properly uses his strength and scores some great goals, but it will certainly be mixed with frustrating games where he plays within himself. Oh, and in both cases their right foot was only good for standing on :)

I have a lot of doubt Simms and particularly Wright are talented quality players.
In fact it's likely Wright is out of his depth right now.
Simms had a chance with Everton and was offloaded so he needs to regroup and go again but you can see at least some fight in there.
Wright has already been a journeyman for years. Where does he realistically see himself getting to, besides an American club?

The difference is gyo could run with ball and make his own chances, and I think Simms could have that in his armoury, but I’m not so sure about wright his control don’t look great at the moment.

Agreed. We also kept coming back after teams had said no and quoted what-for them-was their "not really for sale, this will put them off" fee. Only we only went and bloody paid them!

That's all fair enough, but we're just discussing him on a discussion board, not shouting abuse in his face. You have to assume that they don't read on here and if they do, they should stop..

There is no way that the vibes on social media don't get through to them, whether they read stuff directly or not.
So we should not discuss things because of "vibes"? Is that even a real thing? So if I type something on here it goes into the ether or becomes part of some social critical mass where all the players know what we type?

I'm sure twitter and facebook are more of a problem in that anyway, that's a platform that almost every player will have anyway. They're asking for trouble if they seek out Sky Blues Talk!
