Transfer Rumour Haji Wright (31 Viewers)

Personally think he’s getting far too much abuse but wouldn’t be against cashing in in January if this rumour is true. I’m not sure that an average run of form over (guessing) five or six full games knocks £7m odd off his valuation. If Fenerbahce had hypothetically tried to sign him in the summer and would’ve paid it then it’s not obscene to suggest they might get close now.

Yeah, he's had just one full 90 mins in the league since he arrived from Turkey and only another 4 games where he got at least 60mins. Scored twice but he's not good enough for this league.

Ok he's finding is feet , we've got no midfield, and he's been feeding off scraps but he is officially a donkey.

Shall we dig up all that you wrote about Biamou?

You can do what you like. Some of the vitriol here is off the scale. Biamou had many supporters on this forum - this is a full up pile on

One flick through this forum combined with actually being dropped from the side on both occasions after I have scored and I’d want to fuck off as well

How anyone can actually have watched that last night and the first thing that comes to their mind was to dig the strikers out last night is baffling me

Piss poor goal to concede from our centre halves point of view, wing-backs negative, Ayari giving the ball away at every juncture and Eccles incapable of taking a half decent corner and it’s the lads up top who are getting the blame, baffling - I actually thought Simms did okay last night considering how diabolical everything going on behind him was

Snap their hands off and pretend this all never happened. Go and buy two prospects for £2-3M in Jan or loans until the summer. Spend the Gus fee on a couple of CMs. Then we just need to see if we can return Collins and Kitching and get some actually competitive CBs and GK.

Are you stupid? Kitching's a great defender who's barely played yet. Just STFU.

There's obviously a player in there, who probably needs a sustained run to be able to achieve something. However: 1) He hasn't done anything to deserve a run out based on his recent contributions, and 2) He looks extremely off it mentally. If that is the case (which I think it is, and Robins has hinted at) we are unlikely to get the best out of him as it stands. As we are doing so shit at the moment I would just play him and see if something can spark into life organically.

Considering we are talking about the our highest ever transfer - it is a bit fucked.

Robins should live or die on the hill which is Haji Wright. You've spent the money on him now, just play him week in week out, 90 mins from start, for a sustained period of time. He either comes good or he doesn't, then the fall out needs to be dealt with. If he can't contribute then heads need to roll.

That being said, comment on here are absurd. There's a whole bunch of posters who have clearly developed some sort of weird obsession with him, and want him to fail. I think Coventry fans are obsessed with the romantic underdog story, Vik and Gus, players who have come from nowhere to become idolised by fans.

We did it with Dujon Sterling and BNC who were both awful at the start and came good. Even Marc McNulty was the same, was awful for roughly the first 10-15 matches

Shipping out Wright after 12 games would be one thing, and something you could explain away with homesickness etc….Doing the same thing with multiple signings in the space of one window is a great way to tell future transfer targets and their agents that we’re an unserious and unreliable partner to deal with. It would be a disaster for our reputation.

To be honest I think the problem is not of his own making. He’s similar to Bellamy in some respects - he’s come in as our record signing to replace a fans favourite in a league he’s never played in before.

there’s an expectation for him to deliver, and apart from a few fleeting moments he’s not once looked like a 7.7m player.

it’s not his fault we paid that - but his hard to get away from this fact when judging him

Clearly he will be judged by the fee and so will robins - and he needs to take ownership himself - but calling him a pussy, c**t, coward, saying get rid for free, non league, a childlike mentality - it’s all a bit OTT

Seems a bizarre situation, but it could certainly hold some truth. Moving to a new country (even if it isn’t a million miles culturally from his place of birth) with a partner from his previous location and a new born, could be really tricky. Don’t underestimate the need for support when young children join the fold.

I’m not ready to give up on Wright, he’s clearly massively lacking in confidence - not helped by his home situation (if true) - which is visibly impacting his performance. He has attributes which could see him come good.

However, if we get a decent fee back, then cutting ties may well be best for him and us.

I would guess his family aren’t happy and want back to Turkey and agent is getting the word out.
Any high profile American considering moving his young family to that part of the world right now must be crazy.

Except he started both games after he scored and was pretty poor in both- especially Norwich.

This is true and by the same token Robins needs to take ownership of his decision to spend a small fortune on two strikers.
He has to back his judgement and give Wright and Simms a run of games.

My Opinion is Wright has been poor but when he came on against Rotherham i watched him very closely ,he was the only player making runs and pointing where it needed to go and on every occasion the ball was never played to him, the player cant play if the correct balls are never played by are midfield etc. By this time Simms was not running for anything just standing knowing running was a waste of effort. We need to play some early balls to Wright I think to see him in a better light.
