I put him on purely for his stint as manager.............as a player he was pure class/ as a bloke he's even better/ but he was a poor manager at probably the most important point in recent history when we still had good players and parachute payments but didn't get us anywhere near going up.

He sent Mcsheffrey out on loan a few times and made him train up the memorial park with a few other who called themselves the "bomb squad"........

and constantly played players like Lee Mills &Dean Holsworth rather than the likes of Bothroyd & Macca.

Fair enough. he was a poor manager. his signings were shocking.

Gary Megson and Nicky Summerbee....... Ended the careers of Dean Emerson and Stephen Frogatt. I will never forgive them!!!!!

wasn't summerbee playing for sunderland at the time?

Not for his playing ability for the way he had no respect for the club that gave him a second chance
