Could one of our Rich fans fund the difference for the season?

Can Gus access the ST fund to bridge the difference. Could be the way to go...

I’m not saying they won’t, but do you honestly think the squad will be annoyed about Gus getting a more impressive wage than everyone else or happy that we’ve kept him and he’s in our/their team, I think the latter.
Sure, then you pay him a one off signing-on bonus equivalent to the wage increase he is asking. Say it’s 4k a week more he wants then pay as one off 208k signing bonus for one year extension rather than increased salary. There are clearly ways around this if they want to make it happen

Yeah I mean it's not even fine margins is it, he's literally box office and I'd like to think they have an appreciation for that and with that commands a decent wedge.

Players like this aren't around often. Tbh instead of the pricing he should ask for crowd funding to get an extra 200k to keep him. 10k season ticker holders would easily chuck £20 in each as it almost guarantees we'll see a better product on the pitch.

I think Hamer and Vik will go MR will do his best to come out and state its a part of the process. Losing both is a hard pill to swallow but at least we get a fee and have MR and AV to build the squad again to compete.

At the minute its doom and gloom and although i understand it we have to be patient and let MR do his job. I cant think of anyone better to find a solution to how to build a very competitive squad again.

I get the sentiment, but I’d honestly rather lob £20 in the bin.
And any player that would accept twenty quid off 10k fans can fuck off.

Good point. like that, I can’t afford to waste my money on someone who is a damn sight richer than me. If it’s about football, then why not stay with us. There are loads of egos in the game. Surely it’s better to play where you are happy once you’ve made your dosh. I’d be happier if a benevolent fan paid his wages of course. Maybe Hamer could put in a few shifts at Yelo?

Wholly agree, although I wasn't thinking of walking round with a bucket. What I meant was a breakdown almost of increased prices to say yeah look lads, we've raised tour ticket £100 but we've invested £20 in a new pitch, £20 to retain Gus etc etc I just think if people can see come to terms with where the extra is going there'd be less whinging about Dougs put the price up but SISU kept them same.

It would be a great boost if Hamer did sign the contract, and we can look forward to the new signings from Vik's money. Our midfield would be very strong for the season.

Hamer
Sheaf
Eccles
Kelly (If he signs)
Allen
Howley
O'Hare
Palmer

Offer the captain a new deal then take the armband off him and the rest of squad not getting raises, shouldn't affect morale I'm sure...
We wouldn't just be offering Hamer a raise for the sake of it, it's because his contract is running down and to secure our asset we have to accept the ball is somewhat in his court. Quite a few players have signed new contracts recently, many of them for more money I'm sure.

I doubt we would need to make Gus captain in the next 12 months, it's about pay only I suspect. Waghorn, Palmer, and Bidwell probably earned at least twice what Gus and others earned last season. That didn't seem to affect morale as far as I cound see.

It helps if your Hamer, Vik etc and the club want to give you more money linked to a new contract but you are turning it down because your agent sees an even bigger prize in the summer. It’s hard to complain in those circumstances …..

Apparently not if we see the general reaction to Doug King increasing ST prices... Club has more revenue, it has more resources to offer more expensive contracts for new/current players.

I doubt they were all on twice as much as him, he’s already signed a new deal at the club since we signed him.

Offer him the contract he's after....he should be the central figure of our squad next year and with Gyokeres going the funds from his sale will help support the cost.

Hamer is getting better.....his disciplinary record since last October when he came back from his 2nd red has completely changed....means he plays more games which helps him get better so not a risk (bar injury of course but we should cover ourselves via insurance there)

Truly believe that when we have O'Hare back too then these 2 behind a decent striker we could score plenty (would have Hamer constantly as an attacking midfielder)

Gus goes and there's a massive hole left that will not be filled.....we won't get that lucky!!!

No, probably not . These salary webpages are notoriously inaccurate, but a look at 3 sites suggests Gus is on between 5.2K and 6.5K pw, with the top earners on about 10K.

As much as I like your post Skbluecol sadly it's my understanding Gus is going.

I don’t want him to leave, who does, but he had a storming finish to the season, and with his contract running down his agent knows he can get a great deal for his player. Far ahead of our wage structure.

Like Vic if he’s to go we need to do it in the next 2 weeks ideally and allow the recruitment team time to get their targets.

Hamer is on significantly more than £6.5k I can assure you.
This is always the problem when discussing player's salaries. I have no idea what any of them earn, and I doubt anyone on here does either, unless they are directly connected to the player or the club.
As I said, the nearest we can get to it is by taking an average of what is shown on the net, and taking it with a very big pinch of salt.
But in truth unless you have a reliable source, it's all just guesswork.

Knowing you’re a bit closer to this situ than most… that’s not good news 😞

Gus has been brilliant for us. But we’ve managed to keep hold of him a lot longer than we were meant to.

Gus was originally an expensive punt by Sisu standards at the time, to come in for a £1m and by 18-24mo leaving for a substantial fee. That was the idea…

For him to have played 122 games for us and Robins turning him into a Rolls Royce of a player from that hot headed kid from Holland has been a joy to watch.

He turns 26 next week and he is a class above the Championship and deserves to play at a higher league. It’s a short career.

Sad to say goodbye when he goes, but he will depart as a City modern day legend.

He was hardly an expensive punt, we paid £750k for Godden the season before in the league below.

Agree not an expensive punt, but I thought Godders was only £350k initially. I think we paid about £750k after goals and appearances etc which of course he hit so we will have paid
