It’s such a shitter it’s happened this season when we finally had the ability to start succession planning for these types of players.
Dublin better, not sure about far better. McAllister better for one of his seasons, the others not so much. And we were literally relegated the season after McAllister left!

Gustavo Hamer is on his way to Sheffield United after Coventry chief Mark Robins was left stunned by the swoop.
Brazilian star Hamer will have a medical at Bramall Lane after the clubs agreed a deal worth up to £15 million.
However Robins was only told Hamer was leaving at training and surprised by the speed of the agreement.
Sky Blues had previously seen off offers from Burnley and Leeds before Blades came in with the cash from the sale of Sander Berge to Burnley.
Hamer just had a year left on his Sky Blues deal and joins Viktor Gyokeres on the way out, leaving Robins having to search for replacements
yep, more nonsense from Nixon thenBy Alan Nixon

This season is the rebuild for sure, anyone suggesting we go back into the playoffs or via autos is being incredibly optimistic, we'll see, hope my own pessimism is proved wrong.Dissapointing we’ve sold him after the season has started, hopefully we will replace move on and grow. Maybe we won’t get promoted this season but maybe in the next 3 or 4 seasons it could still happen
Hamers only hit the heights he has for 6or 7 months.
And as I said in my previous post, different standards and objectives now.
As for Dublin not much better, go and have a lie down!
Is Nixon usually right? I don't know the retweeters and who are the reputable ones on there.
Concerned at the fact they are reporting Robins as being surprised, hope this doesn’t unsettle RobinsBy Alan Nixon

why? This season is the rebuild for sure, anyone suggesting we go back into the playoffs or via autos is being incredibly optimistic, we'll see, hope my own pessimism is proved wrong.
Don’t like the words ‘up to’ £15m. Hope it’s min 12-13m up front. Also wouldn’t mind a sell on
3 seasons, but agree. Doubt it's £15 million up front though.Grendel was saying £5m there’s a lot of nonsense spouted on here £15m from £1m in 2 seasons is unbelievable
I had thought if we’d kept Gus, we could make the playoffs once the new players were up to speed. He’s the heart of the team at the moment, but having to replace him will make this season tougher. Though I think the future is still brightThis season is the rebuild for sure, anyone suggesting we go back into the playoffs or via autos is being incredibly optimistic, we'll see, hope my own pessimism is proved wrong.
Targets surelyYou have to hope Robins has a target already ready to sign
Sorry thanks3 seasons, but agree. Doubt it's £15 million up front though.
We've lost our two biggest players and the new players need time, plus the league is stronger than ever, that's just a couple of reasons.why?
We have spent more, have a better squad and we will replace Gus.
We can actually have a team that doesn't need to have 1 or 2 players drags up the league

Yes with Gus, I felt confident, now my expectations aren't the same. Hope we do well which likely goes without saying, but we need to give the new players time.I had thought if we’d kept Gus, we could make the playoffs once the new players were up to speed. Completely agree. First time I saw him in that Rangers friendly you could tell he was a really good player. At times been on a different wavelength to the rest of the squad. Last year towards the end the levels he hit were unreal. Amazed we've been able to hold on to him three years.I remember watching Gus through Covid during the behind closed doors games and thinking that I’ll never get to see this guy in the flesh because we might go down or surely someone bigger will snap him up come the end of the season.
Feel blessed I’ve got to see him live so many times in Sky Blue - what a player.
I’m putting my trust in the process now. It’s very unlikely we’ll find a player like him for a good decade, maybe two, but even if we find someone that can advance the ball, knit things together even without the 60 yard killer balls and progressive passes then I put my trust in the evidently stronger team to have a good season.
