It's a brilliant post that I entirely agree with, but then you went and used the "word" uptick! Increase or rise, maybe?We lose both Vic and Gus in this window, we're in a bit of bother. It leaves a huge hole, it shouldn't be underestimated just how good they are.
When I say bother, I'm not suggesting we'd be in any trouble next season, but I couldn't see us pushing on from last term. It would require a comprehensive rebuild, and some of the signings will flop, it is inevitable. We have the right people in charge of course, but you feel the rebuild might take a couple of years to bear fruit.
We have to do what it takes to keep him for another season imo. 20K per week would only be an annual uplift of 500K or so. Surely we pay that rather than pay £2-3 million + wages for a replacement unlikely to be anywhere near his level (if of course he'd be willing to stay for that sort of money).

People won't like it, but longer term we are in a brilliant position with those pounds. A season in mid-table and time to spend the money properly over the next 2 years isn't a bad option as long as we secure our status at this level. Making £30m+ of profit on two previously unknown players is incredible.
