If we can’t afford £20k/wk for a player of his calibre the wage structure needs changing. If we had a team of Hamers we’d win the league at a canter. It’s not every day a player of that quality wants to stay. And if it was that would be great.

As stated, the reluctance to offer what really isn't exactly a sizeable wage for the Championship likely proves my theory that the budget isn't going to increase by much this season. DK clearly wants to build a sustainable model whereby the overheads are more or less covered by ticketing/sponsorship/hospitality income along with player sales.

To accomplish that strategy, fundamentally the club are going to have to be strict on their wage structure. Hopefully the club shift their stance as replacing Hamer would be near on impossible, but DK's comments on how he wants to run the club makes me less than confident a deal will be struck.

So SISU Mk2 then. Fund a L1 squad and hope it makes it to the Prem.

Yet he still set up the winner at Boro, and the equaliser at Wembley.... Whilst playing through an injury.

I get it, we want to downplay Vik as he's off... but lets not. He's brilliant. We're going to miss him massively
Hey, I love the guy and hope we get the 20M . Just an opinion. McNair played him well.

I am one of those who say we should live within our means, and that means a salary structure.
But I would break it on this occasion ( I know, when do you stop). Hamer is just so important to us.
IF the figures talked about are accurate, we have to get an extension with an agreed exit price.

dont care who goes for dinner with who, absolutely nobody knows how likely it is Hamer stays other than Doug/Robins and Gus himself.

Dawkins plastering all his "ITK facts" all over twitter is exactly why Hamer wouldn't tell him what salary he's on and what offers he's had etc.

And with all due respect, i dont believe any of the ITK people on here either about Gus, wage offers, Waghorns wages etc

Hate close season, bring on pre season!

I agree to some extent, the people that definitely know are the 3 people you mentioned.

but think it is definitely believable what is being said on here by a clear itk

maybe i'm a pedant, but i've got no reason to believe anybody on here has any more of a clue than the rest of us

I've seen nothing to suggest a "clear ITK"

they may know somebody who knows somebody, but they're just spouting rumours in my mind! they'll be wrong more than they're right i imagine, but spout enough and eventually you'll get one!

Thought Vik was found out a bit in the end . McNair had him in his pocket
There were matches, not just at the end when he was fairly ineffective, but surely every player has games like that. It remains to be seen how he gets on playing against top defenders every week.

I would pay an extra £100 on my season ticket price to keep Hamer , he’s just a class above any player in this league. If it comes to it we should get the begging buckets outside the ground or online fund raise.
Agree with the first bit, but there were others, including Diallo for example who were on his level.

Losing Vic and Hamer would imo put the club in serious trouble next season, you just cannot take that amount of goal contributions out of a team in one go.

If you got the Premier League Package, then you probably did.

because it would be a rubbish way of doing anything

He's mid level music manager John Dawkins not Brian Epstein mate, his reach is a few cov fans.

Agents will leak to the press, Hamer is big enough now that a national will write stories about him.

Not in some kind of big propaganda play, but by leaking to various people that it’s the clubs fault and they need to do more, it doesn’t do the player/agent any harm. Better for them than saying ‘the club have put a brilliant offer on the table but my player wants crazy money to stay and we’ll drag this out until a Prem club comes in for him’ which could be the truth for all we know.

I’m just saying I’ll keep an open mind to what I hear, as different sides will have different agendas

I still think an increased wage offer might well be tied into the sale of Vik/what we get for him

Bullshit account from what I can tell.

Midlands focussed and from replies to his previous tweets, seems to have a positive rep with the Villa congregation. But most of these Twits are hit and miss. What could be a rumour could also be taking the piss while the twit is in hearing range.

Nonsense. King has said he wants to build a squad that can compete at the top end of this league in and around the playoffs.

I'm with everyone else that I would do everything we can to keep Hamer. But we do have to have a wage structure at the club. And we do need it to be sustainable.

Because its easy for us to say it's just 1 player and arguably our best player. But it will have a knock on effect on the wages expected fromthe rest of our current squad as well as new signings that come in.

Not sure where everyone is coming up with this it will affect the rest of the squad bollocks, it's the single point I'm most tired of hearing and it's complete and utter rubbish. Many of them have signed new deals recently, on terms they were presumably happy with and I think we can assume on more money. Hamer has his own negotiation going on, it has nothing to do with the rest of the squad.

I think we can all speculate until we're blue in the face. End of the day, what happens happens. If we keep him, great and I hope we do. Proven player, and a key reason we did so well last season. If we don't, it'll be a huge shame but he'll go down as one of the best players in recent history and we will have a lot of good times to look back on.

I trust Robins & Adi to restock and rebuild as they always have.

PS. I wish they'd just give us something to get excited about, new kit, new signing, new contract...just something so we're all not twiddling our thumbs and clinging on to useless speculation. Bring on 9am tomorrow for fixtures!
