I’m not sure that is a reasonable interpretation of that. By the end of today we may have our 5th signing through the door with 6 weeks still to go in the window. How many did you expect at this stage ?
I'm pretty sure that they expected to take something resembling a squad to Portugal and to be going into Forest Green with maybe not a full line up but also a not a patchwork quilt either.

It’s exactly the way actually/. Have a financial plan that you alter if your finances materially alter.

I wouldn't mind seeing 3 or 4 come in with the Hamer money, obviously McNally as part of the deal then
Willock Qpr 3m. Cannon Everton 4m, with the change to be spent on a Rwb and Lcb, without touching the Vik money

Agree partly - the only thing against this is the calculations, in that the fees and wages of 3 players coming in (let's use the example of the 3 you have said) doesn't equate to the sale of Gus. Each of the incoming players will probably be after similar/more than we are currently paying Gus. If we sold Gus for the equivalent of say £12-£15m, I don't think you can look at reinvesting much more than half, otherwise the quality of player you are bringing in will hit the wage bill big style. That is why you have to take a chance on potential (as we did with Gus, Vik, and hope one or two become the new heroes) For me, if Gus won't sign we have to do what is best for the medium/long term good of the team.

If someone offers 15m he has to go. We need a more balanced squad not relying on 2 superstars. Look at the final as soon as we lost Gus it was over. It didn’t matter Luton lost Lockyer or changed players as they were all of similar quality.

We balance the squad with the Gyokeres money, that's more than enough to do some serious damage. Eventually you have to at least try and keep some of your better players and build off it, not flog them off and start again.
If Hamer leaves there's very little left of a team that did very well last season.

something went wrong - listen to the new goalkeeper interview, said been waiting for a few weeks, so clearly no cash and waiting for the Vik money. Therefore the balance of the Vik money will probably be banked - we will need to sell Gus and reinvest all of that in such case

You do but to do that you need players on long term contracts. Hamer has 1 yr left.

I don't see the Gus money being reinvested immediately either. Both the Vik and Gus will be drip fed over 4 years or so. We're always limited ulimately by the wage bill, which is a problem that comes with not owning the stadium and the impact on potential revenue streams.

Yes I know, I mean we try to tie him down. If he won't sign then of course you sell for 15 million. I'm saying, for me, the money is not the preferable option.

same here. We have 17m up front from the Vik sale. For once in our lives we don’t need the money but we would all love success. Hamer is our star man and more so now Vik has left. Simms up front is an excellent replacement but we need more fire power than him.

As said before how can we expect anything to change and challenge again if we sell our best two players by far last season. Yes 30/35m but the we will be lucky to see half that.

im sure I have faults in my theory buts what’s more demoralising when the team loses its star 2 players.

And while I'm ranting, the quote I keep fucking seeing 'we were over reliant on 2 players, therefore for some reason it's a good thing to get rid of those 2 players' is the most batshit shit I've ever heard. It makes no sense.
Can accept losing Vik and reinvesting, but Hamer too... its a no from me.

So you would rather piss away 15 million and lose him for free them in a year?

You said losing hamer was a no from you. You also said we have to seel if he doesn't sign a contract. You can't have both. So whch is it? Simple question really
Mate I really can't help you. Is this a shit attempt at a gotcha? I can't get on board with the thinking of many that him leaving is somehow a good thing because we can improve the squad, when we already have plenty of money from Vik. If for whatever reason he doesn't want to stay then obviously we have to sell. Now leave me alone please.

Who is offering £15million ?

In my opinion Hamer has a decision to make, stay here and spearhead a promotion challenge or move on to a Burnley or a Forest and be part of a relegation fight with its implications such as in and out the team, possible managerial changes etc.
Either way Robins needs to know and soon, he will have a with Hamer plan and a without Hamer plan. There’s still nearly three weeks to go for the big kick off and seven until the window closes we have brought in five and will bring in a few more either permanent or loans I’m confident we will at least emulate last season.

No ones offered anything and there's still a chance he signs a new contract, yet there's still people out in force wishing he was gone yesterday. Crazy stuff.

I think it’s almost inevitable now that he leaves, there is far too much noise around him coupled with the fact that he hasn’t signed a new contract that’s clearly been negotiated and in front of him for some time.

Not sure I’ve seen anyone who wants Hamer to go, more just the reality that if he doesn’t sign a new deal we’ve got no choice but to sell. I’m still hoping we can agree a new deal with a fair release clause allowing him to leave next summer for around say 15m if we don’t get promoted.

If he’s being offered Prem move/wages I’d be surprised if he doesn’t fancy a crack now, even if Doug offers him 20-25k p/w and a new pair of cufflinks, especially after what happened to ohare

Hes gonna go isnt he>?
Probably, I think we all told ourselves for a while that he wouldn't, but realistically, unless we get him on a new contract it's a poor business decision for city to turn down 15-20m for a player on his last year. Even with Hamer there's no guarantee of a promotion push, especially this season. Love him to stay, but he will likely be offered silly money in the Prem and a player of his quality should aspire to play at the top level.
