His key passes and ball recoveries have always been outstanding. This idea that he’s only been decent since January is a nonsense TBH. He’s missed 6 games in three years from suspension and three of those were 6 games into his first season. The last two years he’s missed a game a season from. Yes he’s taken it to another level, but he’s always been excellent.
I agree but nobody was paying anything like £15m for him before now. If the were then SISU would have bitten their arms off I suspect.

WHO is out there that will come in and do what he does???
We dont know till we look.
Had you heard of Gus before we signed him?
Or Gyokeres for that matter.

We could easily sign a foreign player we've never heard of who becomes the next fans favourite.

So relax, trust the system that found Hamer, and stop with the panicking.

I trusted it a lot more before it spent £20m

Would genuinely rather he goes for less than to a promotion rival.
Not for me, rinse every penny out the deal we can, and extra 2m+ could add quality depth to the squad.

Way I see it is without Hamer our outside chance of promotion just got slimmer. I'm more than comfortable building a squad that can compete over the next few seasons. Still give it a bash this year of course but I have a feeling next season will be a lot more open.

These are not mutually exclusive statements. You’ve got a player like Gus you pay him £25k/wk.

None of us know what was offered. All we know is previous ‘ITKs’ talking about what hamer wanted and what we were willing to pay him were proven to be talking shat

The facts are hamer was in the last year of his contract, he’s been given the chance to play in the Prem and this is guesswork but probably offered around 40k per week. Even if he’d signed a new deal nothing to say he/his agent wouldn’t have agitated for a move if a prem club came knocking

This was Hamer/agents call, clubs in our situation have little power other than trying to keep hold of a potentially unhappy player and lose him for free next year

He's missed 10 games through suspension in three years (there were 5 last season).

Before the second half of last season he had inconsistent spells but from January he was consistently excellent.

Dawkins suggesting on twitter that Hamer wanted 25k and told the club this months ago, the club refused to match it and by the time they did his head had been turned.

Oh here we go :cautious: Let the the mud slinging, self serving, salty rumours commence

Short term whilst we look take Fleck back. Won't get a game with Gus there and could still get a tune at Champ level.

Can we keep some perspective please.

I think Gus is a superb championship level player but our reaction is bordering on hysterical.

just remember last autumn when he was serving his long ban we had people on here saying he was a liability, needed to be sold for a couple of million in Jan et. Etc

We will replace Hamer, we will be stronger for his sake, not instantly but as a club over time.

I do agree with this. My immediate concern is the mood at the club. On the back of 2 defeats when you see the difference he makes, then he goes and IF we get turned over tomorrow, the level of bed wetting will be up a notch!

When you look at it losing to your biggest rivals after being 1-0 with 15 minutes to go, then losing to a League Two side after being 1-0 up with 4 minutes to go and then selling your best player isn’t really the best week, is it?

Looking forward to tomorrows loss to Middlesbrough to really compound it.

This feels much worse than the Vik sale for some reason.

The lad drove us on and was a really exciting energetic player. If we have 15 million we need to use some of that to replace Gus with a box to box midfielder, that ideally is ready to hit the ground running.

FFS, according to most on here, Hamer is either the second coming of God, or a slightly better version of Connor Thomas. He's an excellent championship player, which we got 3 great years out of (should be more, but fucking Dabo). I'm looking forward to seeing how he performs in the prem, I think he's seeing this move as a stepping stone as otherwise it doesn't really make sense. He won't be near the Dutch national team as he simply isn't good enough. The national squad is littered with younger players, playing at a much higher level. IMO He'll become a solid prem player, earn a fortune, have a few multi million pound transfers. Good luck to him. It was a pleasure to watch him play, and probably the best player we've had for 25 years. Get the money invested in his replacement and I'm fairly happy to keep the rest for January.
