Have I missed an academy update? (2 Viewers)

Not had much time to come on here for the last couple of weeks as I've been busy moving back to Cov.

Thought I'd caught up but following the SBT meetings tonight on twitter it sounds as if the issues with the academy are sorted but I can't see any reference to it on the Telegraph or Observer, or even on here.

The general gist is that once CSF and Wasps have completed all the work on the AHC the facilities available to the club will be at least the same as they are now which of course would mean the academy could stay. Apparently Wasps and CSF have publicly confirmed that and the trust have spoken with the FL and there will be no problems with passing a future audit.

Like I say, was news to me as I've been out of the loop. Is the news as good as it seems or is there a catch I'm not aware of?

News to me, but good news if so, I suppose.

Would beg the question what happens next, mind you...

Where is this Dave? I've not seen anything either. If true is very good news.

Great news if true,
To the last line of your post, there's always a catch.

Excellent news indeed, one less thing to worry about. Hopefully there's not a sting in the tail :wacky:

Was on twitter. CJ was tweeting, as he always does for those who can't attend, from the SBT meeting. Said SBT had met with Wasps and CSF. I asked if they had answered the question about if we would have the facilities available to us to stay and its seems we will, and it will be a lower rent. Also said they had talked with the FL and that after the changes we were certain to pass any audit.

Seems I got the bit about it having been made public wrong. Surprised they haven't released that to be honest as it would pretty much remove any negative attitude towards Wasps and CSF, on this issue at least.

Good news if we can keep the academy. :)

All only been told to the Trust behind closed doors and off the record hasn't it?

Well the key is that the question has been answered. Now we've had a positive answer that the academy can stay at Higgs then we need Anderson to get cracking sorting a long term deal and Wasps / CSF to publicly confirm what the trust have been told is correct.

I went to the trust meeting today they have been on the case of the academy.
They have spoken to various sides involved.
There have been meetings arranged by all the parties involved unfortunately CCFC never bothered turning up yet it is them that is affecting.
Read into this as you see fit and be for you ask there is no link to this.

But Anderson doesn't know what is required for the academy to function in its current standard.
Funny but the trust asked the league what was required and got the answers.
What are these people at CCFC paid for they seem to struggle getting the answers to anything.

I wonder why so many people are anti the board and the owners? People still feel the need to defend them though. :banghead:

I am genuinely questioning if an academy is wanted by those that need it the most.

Brings up the question of when have SISU done something for the long term gain of our club? Moving us back is one or was that a move they were forced into? Selling Maddison with the clauses that give the club a "stake in the rest of his career" (like we've got with Sturridge) as Joy put it. Buying Jones is another although that one could just be a Robbie Keane type affair if we get an offer high enough in 12 months. Aside from that I'm struggling.

The shop, the agreements at the AHC and the Ricoh, most of the contracts offered to players. It's all short term.

Something that should be noted is that it is possible to keep the Cat 2 status by using Wasps' new facilities. If anything they will be an upgrade on what we had before. The powers that be would have to use their discretion but they have to with the current set up as some things do not meet the requirements.

So if true we now know the only thing standing between us and the academy is
Our wonderful owners. You'd think it would be very difficult for people to defend
Them, oh well I'm sure they will think of something. ;)

So if correct wasps or this sports foundation contacted the FL.
Discovered what is required for the academy to remain at the Higgs Centre.
They will meet the requirements and lower the rent

If the Academy can keep going that’s good news. Does that only take into account the current Wasps planning application, or has it been confirmed that we will still be OK after the likely swimming pool development?

So as things would appear Anderson's view is totally unfounded -

I still can't get my head around the indication that CCFC pulled out of a meeting about the CCFC Academy.

This info does add further credence to comments by other members here that CCFC had planned to pull the plug on the Academy - so, was the proposal to develop Higgs a convenient opportunity for CCFC to do this and blame others "being against the club" as the reason?

Which pushes CCFC into a corner if in reality they do not want to continue financing the Academy.

I think their bluff has been called. Will they tamely fold, or call?

What actual facilities can they use and how often?

Forgive my cynicism, but why is that important? The FL have agreed it will be sufficient for the purposes of a Category 2 Academy. If the club needs more pitch time than can be provided, other pitches are available.

If the important thing is to 'save the academy' - you know the one where you wanted everyone to sign the petition. If it is saved, great news, yes?

Well yeah, most important thing I would say is how Coventry City FC feel about the academy and how much THEY wish to keep it going.

Some worrying comments on here that suggest they don't have the best interests of the fans at heart on the matter.
