It would seem that Vik is staying put ….. for now , so how much does this put Doug/Robins plans back , especially as everything ( apart from Viv leaving ) was seemingly falling into place ?

Why? At a top club, under a manager he respects, in a beautiful country, with excellent weather and Champions League football. Football doesn't start and end with the Premier League.Once the Euros finish I think we will see the top clubs up their respective games as regards in and outs.
I certainly don't see Vik or his agent wanting him to stay at sporting for another season at this stage of his career
Or snaps his ACLIf he stays has a shit season no one will want him.He has to move now while his profile is huge.

I don’t know but suspect he could have gone to a PL club last summer if he was so keen.
And how exactly would that work? (Clue: it wouldn’t)How do we know it's not arsenal or sporting themselves trying to workaround their commitment to us?
Nah I think he is probably at the peak of his value right now. He’ll do well to replicate last season’s form and will be 27 next summer. If he goes next season, we'll have more money then - not really a problem. Only a serious injury would greatly devalue him. It's just cashflow.

Doubt they care if he wins them four titleslol
but the point is anyone signing him would be unlikely to get significant resale value.
The Portuguese league outside the top 5-6 teams is very poor , so regardless of the weather and beauty of Portugal it's not good for his career progression. Why? Just champions league, but yeah I can't imagine him staying put!The Portuguese league outside the top 5-6 teams is very poor , so regardless of the weather and beauty of Portugal it's not good for his career progression.
And I can't see where I mentioned the Premier League in my initial post ?
If he does go it will be to another Champions League team but in one of the top leagues .Just champions league, but yeah I can't imagine him staying put!

No, can't get out of the sell on clause.Other than 6 months/ a year later, can they get around the sell on clauses etc legally?
