I think you've summed it up well.
And I wouldn't listen too much to the BBC, they've become a very bizarre organisation.
Maybe they should look at clearing out the nonces and abusers that appear to have infested them, rather than looking at footballs.
Chris Sutton is one of the campaigners. He's more informed than most of us being both an ex pro and somebody who lost a loved one through dementia associated with heading footballs.

Tell that to people like Jeff Astle's family

You utter bellend
I think you've managed to miss the point here, as the OP clearly mentioned, the balls were different in Jeff Astles day.

But thanks for contributing in your usual insightful manner.

No agenda and not trying to wind you up.. You criticised the BBC for reporting on potential heading ban mate, ffs. Did Daily Mail and GBNews not report on it? Most media outlets did.
We know what your agenda is, blame BBC as much as you can for everything and ignore other big organisations and private companies where similar atrocities have been carried out. Seems like you bring this and many other distorted RW perspectives into almost every thread without fail..... even the football ones. Your right to do so I guess but I'll always call it out where it's not relevant to the discussion.
I criticised the BBC because they were the example sited in the original post. ( I note that you didn't call out the OP for mentioning them)

I'm in no way saying are the only ones pushing this story, but they are the ones being mentioned.

I don't have any agenda against the BBC, other than suggesting they've got their own (well documented) internal issues to sort out.

You miss the point as well, consistent impact is an issue regardless of how heavy the ball is:

You should probably do a bit of reading before asserting your tired drivel about the BBC

He gets his info off batshit conspiracy theorists like Richard Hall.

In professional football, the subject of CTE has long been treated as a side issue, or as a relic of a time past. Many people, for example, assume that the risk is lower because modern balls are lighter than they used to be; in fact balls still weigh about the same, between 14oz to 16oz. Newer balls don’t get heavier when wet like the old ones, but every expert I spoke to agreed that modern balls travel faster, so the force at which they connect with a player’s head has likely not reduced. “The modern balls may actually be more of a risk because they’re travelling faster, further and arriving at your head quicker,” said Stewart.

Jesus, of all the people to post this 🤣🤣🤣

You literally swallow nonsense theories by idiots and often dangerous people.

You have quoted Richard Hall as a credible source. Hes a lunatic who has no credibility at all

My son played in a game last week against a team of u17s who didn't contest any headers when defending corners and from their own corners the ball wasn't hit in the air.
I generally watch a team who play in sky blue who dont contest any headers when defending corners !!

The sad truth is that as long as people running football believe that there isn't a problem now that we have left the old laced, leather balls behind then players will continue to die of this horrible disease.
Players have been and continue to be diagnosed with dementia long since the balls were changed.

There is no appetite to change the rules on heading at professional level. Money talks. That's what it's about. Once players have retired who cares ?

If they would have banned tackling too then it's my whole youth footballing career gone.

Used to love a bullet header or those headers direct from out of the hands keeper kick.

And a crunching tackle, can't beat them firm but fair, miss them days.
