So here's my question to you all
If we stay up, could it not be said that SISU have actually put us in a better position than they found us?
No
Financially we are still on the edge. All sisu have done financially is to roll up all the losses from then and since call them something else then add more loans at high interest. We rely on player sales to survive which is fine if those sales happen, because to remain competitive in this division they need to at healthy profits, what if they don't?
We have 7 to 10 years security during and after which the need to build, finance and pay for a new stadium apparently at the cost of 10's of millions probably in form of loans on top of loans and interest on all that.
The sisu "genius" is really to do next to nothing in terms of investing in the team. To let ccfc find it's own level- let's be honest recent seasons we have probably exceeded expectations. They only step in with the minimum amount to keep ccfc from going under. Why ? Because they lose their right to income and capital if they don't.
squad wise we are willing but lightweight play decently but are probably not a lot better than our current position. We are relying on the young players to learn quick, improve rapidly and to make it happen. Think we would agree some have been found out from what they were achieving in L1. We are 6 or so bad results away from relegation. Dont take that as criticism of their effort it isn't.
are we better off as a club..... the picture painted is prettier but look below the covers and it still isn't good. What is far better is the PR
Both ccfc and wasps needed this deal. Both are at risk financially because of the covid crisis. It makes sense to do a deal. A deal that we dont have detailed knowledge of terms or who approached who, who blinked first or what indemnities or guarantees have been given on either side. Neither side would have done a deal if it wasn't in their interest to do so and they didn't profit from the deal directly let alone any add ons because of it.
Ccfc coming back helps wasps survive but the reverse is also true.
So do I think we are better off ? Not really.
Just a thought but I think the delware North involvement at the ricoh has been a key driver in this return Their deal with wasps was an improvement on the compass deal, which gives wasps more room to give ccfc more which means more footfall at the stadium which means they all benefit. Delaware has a lever on wasps because of the site investment they have made. Both ccfc and wasps were and are vulnerable
