Former Sky Blue player Hermann Hreidarsson says he intends to offer his services to former club Portsmouth for free in their hour of need. The 38-year-old was released by Coventry at the end of last season.
Hreidarsson said: “I intend to do my coaching badges in England in September and October and then I intend to train with Portsmouth.
“I have decided to give them a hand because the club is on the verge of bankruptcy and in need of a new owner. I am going to turn up and ask if they want me or not.
I wish some of our players would play for free. Many of them need to give something back for sure.
Portsmouth's woes are someone elses fault. Sounds like he wants in at time of need and when times get better hoping he will be offered a role at the club for his loyalty. Neat bit of self promoting there me thinks! everyone is taking their badges these days and there is nowhere for them to go.

You sir, are a moron. Normally I agree with your comments however you've made yourself look like a tit here, hes done a decent thing offering to turn out for a team he played for years for free, they have coaches playing for them and he's done a selfless act in offering his services, condemning that as self promotion is nothing short of ridiculous. Shaw once offered to play for us for free, was that also self promotion (although it never happened), in my opinion he's a fantastic proffesional that deserves a lot more praise than he gets, especially from our "fans"

I don't deny he wants to help. I'm simply stating that it's an opportunity isn't it for him as much as Pompey? Surely you see that? It's a win win for him.

More of an opportunity for him than Portsmouth? Their first team consists of 17-18 year olds at present. They are being dominated by more experienced teams. Hermann is playing for free in, what is likely to be, his last season to help the club out. In return, Portsmouth are getting an experienced Premier League player who will be a massive influence on the pitch AND in the dressing room. How on earth is that a better deal for player rather than club. He even said that he is willing to play for free until he retires do how can you say he is angling for a new deal? You clearly lead a cynical, cynical existence
Nothing cynical about it. He wants to help, fair enough. At the same time he is intelligent enough to see an opportunity also exist for him by doing so. It's not about any deal.
I'm talking about the later possibility of joining the back room staff in a coaching capacity when he gets his badges. A win win for him.
It would be 'cynical' if Pompey accepted his good grace now to only turn round later when things pick up and refuse him some sort of coahing role when he gains his badges?
He's got Pompey's interest at heart for sure but it' s not without looking to the future for him too as we all must do.
