Got a quote from one of their reps, £750 for new (black out) curtains and a new rail, fook me, that can't be right can it?

Anyone know a decent /cheaper company?

How big are your windows? Full front of your house?

Can't you buy them yourself and hang the rail?

Sounds about right to me. You are paying for national advertising and the sales rep who would make a decent amount. Then the person or people who own the company want to make a lot of money. Strip all of this out then you are down to the price of a local family business. And most probably do a better job.

And they need 3 people to count all the money

Bound to be a bit more expensive for all the advertising Hillarys do, I'm always throwing away their adverts that have been posted through my letter box.
No idea if this will help but here is a directory of local curtain businesses, might be a good idea to get some alternative quotes.
Curtains Coventry - Curtain Shops in Coventry
Whether the listed businesses are any good I couldn't say, only one I've used are Ball hill Blinds and they're OK but basically only do blinds.

I got some made to measure blinds from a website, Terry's blinds. Reasonable price and can't fault the quality.

Its a big bay window, the new rail is made of aluminium (slides better). I put up the last rail in our bedroom and the rep said it was upside down! cheeky c-unit, it works.

That price doesn't seem to bad. Depends on the drop too, and isn't blackout liner more expensive? The aluminium tracks are more expensive, and supposedly much better too. I had a quote for something similar recently from a local curtain specialist, and it was more expensive than that. My son had Hilary's for blinds, and they rang him after a couple of weeks and offered a much discounted price....

Aye the drop, he wanted to take it lower (more fabric) and explained how the lower the drop the better it would be in terms of blocking out the sun at 5am (in the summer), I guess he has a point and yes blackout curtains (lining) is a lot more expensive.

My daughter had blinds fitted all over her new house a couple of years ago. Used Coventry Blinds I think (Bell Green?) Got the lot supplied and fitted for less than you have been quoted.

But, bay window? forget it with blinds.

I used Coventry blinds. Whole house in blackout blinds. 6 windows plus a French door. Came to under £600.
That's quite an unbelievable price! Did you barter or did they have a sale on?

We have Diamond shaped Leaded Glass Windows, so blinds look shite, no need for net curtains either as we aren't over-looked.

Nope, price straight out of their book

The blinds are the vertical type, so not expensive anyway, but she wanted all windows covered with something, and hadn't got cash to spare. They did a good and quick job fitting them. included the front quite big door and side panel, and patio doors at the back.
