love the place, doubt I'll ever go again though, too many other places I've never visited and not enough time or cash to do everything.
We've been to Mexico several times staying at Excellence Playa Mujeres. It's a great hotel, but not cheap. Look it up on Trip Advisor to check it out. It's north of Cancun and certainly not a "partying" hotel. Next door is the Beloved, a very quiet and laid back place.Has anybody been to Mexico? Me and the Mrs planning to go next year. We’re a quiet couple, partial to the odd drink once in a while but not big on the partying scene. Any recommendations?
The US is a very big place. From where I am New York is almost 3000 miles away, Florida is over 2000.I've never wanted to go to the US. It's just never appealed to me. Same as Australia. It holds absolutely nothing for me. I'd rather go to Canada or New Zealand. Never fancied anywhere in Africa either. Always a couple of countries at war with each other or facing some sort of political upheaval. Sod that!
July is a very bad time of the year to go. It can get very hot and very humid in New York in the summer.I hated it. Went in July many years ago now. Far too hot which was exacerbated by the concrete jungle nature of it.
I suppose the only areas I would even slightly consider would be places like Yosemite, Yellowstone etc. I wouldn't go anywhere near the cities. We almost went in early 2002, paid for a flight to Florida then a cruise around the gulf of Mexico, but 911 happened and we cancelled. I must say, the company we booked through was based in Florida and had no hesitation refunding me. I didn't expect that. We ended up going to Kephalonia for a fortnight! The US is a very big place. There is everything here anyone could ever want. Each state is like a different country except everyone speaks the same language (with different accents and Spanish is becoming more common in some places). Whether you like big cities, small towns and villages, beaches, lakes, forests, mountains, rivers, it's all here ... somewhere.
Many of the best places are known only to locals but you can discover them on the internet.
There's a series of guidebooks that are excellent, the titles all begin with 'Hidden' as in 'Hidden California', 'Hidden Arizona' etc.
If you think you would like Canada and New Zealand, you'd probably like the New England states, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire.
Singapore is a great place for a few days. Especially on expenses
Thailand will be mega hot and humid at this time of year. Is it Bangkok?
Have you had experience of visiting either of these on business before? Are we likely to run into issues enter Bangkok on the Tourism visa even if we're having a few meetings? cheers

Come to Phoenix. In July and August it will be around 40-50 degrees Celsius every day, and not much cooler at night.Fuck that. Hotter the better. I like it so hot that my cock and balls need a sweat band.
Perfect excuse for plenty of ice cold beer too.
Couldn't agree more Seen enough of New York on the telly (including Starsky and Hutch !) and it has absolutely no appeal. Any big ,sweaty skyscraped city does absolutely nothing for me. I'd rather explore tucked away parts of Wales, Ireland and Scotland than some big modern concrete metropolis in china or wherever. Mind you the weather will be crap.I've never wanted to go to the US. Have stayed at the TUI Sensatori Riviera Cancun in Riviera Maya. The hotel is lovely with an adult area and family area. Food was ok, standard AI fayre really. Mojito bar was excellent.Has anybody been to Mexico? Me and the Mrs planning to go next year. We’re a quiet couple, partial to the odd drink once in a while but not big on the partying scene. Have also stayed (twice) at the RIU Tequila in Playa Del Carmen. Was lovely too, but the recent trip advisor reviews made it seem like it’d become a bit of a party hotel so we booked the Sensatori instead.
Love Mexico.
Went the GBR - very disappointed as the weather was too rough for diving so just snorkelled - its a long way out and i got seasick - Maldives far better (imo) with bigger fish and no things that are going to kill you - Uluru was very much worth the travel - Hanging rock also interesting !I'm looking at an extended trip to Australia over the Christmas period. 6-8 weeks. The plan is to fly into Perth, then visit Uluru, then work my way up the west coast, finishing up diving the Great Barrier reef.
I'm budgeting for 56 days at £150 a day. :dead:

Haha. I did wonder. Then I thought who cares, they all look the same.Starsky and Hutch is set in California.
They're all absolutely loaded. North Wales for me . When the Sun is out the llyn peninsular is as good as anywhere.I'm either seriously underpaid or people on this forum are racking up the debt. My last holiday was a long weekend in Devon in 2013!

Starsky and Hutch was filmed in Los Angeles! Me for one and Marty and you so far - bubbling up !Just wondering how many divers are on here?
Thanks, but it's not my bag.Starsky and Hutch was filmed in Los Angeles! That's about 3000 miles from New York and a completely different world.
In any case, there is a lot more to New York than just skyscrapers.
For instance there are incredible museums and art galleries, and the theatre is as good as if not better than London.
Out on Long Island, there are even beautiful beaches.
and OSB58 I believe!Me for one and Marty and you so far - bubbling up !
and OSB58 I believe!
Off to the pool tonight for another ruddy dry suit weight test.
i am a warm water diving pussy only i'm afraid - like to see the surface from 30m and lights on overhead
