My understanding rightly or wrongly is that when the ELF do sit down supposedly this week and decide on firstly the end of season or playing out the rest of the games (doubtful) and the important second part Promotion and Relegation –My take is this decision is put to clubs by means of a vote by all the clubs in the ELF currently standing at 71 but I see written that it depends if the championship play on then it will be a vote with league 1 & League 2 numbering 47 -teams – If 75% or more clubs either of the 71 or the 47 vote in favour of whatever is put to vote then what legal action can be taken say by the chairman of Peterborough as surly these clubs have signed up to rules previously on how things should work - Surly in the rules it would state that a vote nullifies and legal actions etc

Yea, I feel all this talk of legal wrangles is pretty pointless. I don't think he's in the right mind if he thinks he'll win any court case around this. If he wants to spend money on lawyers when a lot of teams/players/staff at their level are without business/work, let him

The National governing body of football in England is the FA and they’ve said there has to be promotion and relegation this season.

As there will be no games this season in league 1 . A decision has to be made how the table is decided. At some point teams will vote for something and if Peterborough don’t like it, then they could try to take both the EFL & FA to court.

That will take months to get to court by which time next season will have restarted. So Peterborough obviously have a lot of money to waste on barristers pursuing a dream

I'm pretty confident that we can ignore the votes of between 12 and 18 clubs from the EFL for voting without self interest (6-9 wanting to be promoted and 6-9 wanting to remove relegation fears, depending on whether its 2 or 3 up and down). So it's how the remaining 51 clubs vote. 75% of them is needed. So we'd need 38 clubs to vote to end the season and accept promotion relegation and not choose the unsavoury option of voiding the entire season.

I don’t think there is going to be the option of voiding the entire season, the options are going to be based around deciding how final standings are calculated.

I would think the EFL would have Peterborough by the curlies if they were to go to the Courts. All the EFL would need to do is write in their Articles that no team should be in legal action with the EFL to play in a new season.

I partially saw this talk of legal threats by Peterbourgh, however I have yet to see any legal action ever succeed anywhere based on what "might" have happened in the future as opposed to what "did" happen in the past

I know obviously this is to a degree unprecedented but I actually can't believe that given some of the anal, pointless rules and regulations in football there isn't something set out for this type of scenario. Like in boxing if an accidental clash of heads causes a cut after 4 rounds it goes to the judges cards.

I don't think we can argue that we'd be Champions unless they roll the season back to 30 games or Christmas or some crazy date. However, it would be a hollow victory if promotion was voted against. That's the element I am most concerned about.

I’m not a 100% certain but I think it is in the EFL rules disallowing individual clubs taking the league to court or it could be the FA or both, it is the FA who dictate promotion and relegation and as we can see it’s they who have said there will be promotion and relegation throughout the leagues.
I don’t think the clubs will be voting on promotion or relegation just whether they play out the season or finish it now.
