How important is McGoldrick? (1 Viewer)

Also, the last player we had that looked like being a 20 goal a season striker (although some may disagree) was sold last January! SISU should know this time round when not to lose a striker of any quality!

Someone said he could sign a pre-contract with us before his contract with Forest expires in the summer?

That is an ideal solution for us but can't see you can do that while still under contract to Forest?
Still think there would be some fee involved....

Any player with6 months or less of their contract left are free to talk to other clubs and sign a contract. Think it can only be done in the same country they are presently playing in though. It was brought in so players could always be under contract and not starting to look for a club once out of contract.

That's what worries me because there will be championship clubs watching him and willing to grab for a fee in January one would have thought? It may simply be a matter of what fee will tempt Forest considering the player may well decide to run his contract down and Forest get nothing.

A lot will depend on his continued goal scoring form and if I were MR I would be preparing Cody asap and certainly not be relying on converting a loan into a deal for us.

You can approach anyone with 6 months to go on their current deal-no compo would be paid due to his age.

....if that's the case then we must be favourites apart from a few clubs in the Championship and every other team in league 1 wanting to do the same!?
I guess he will be waiting to see what Forest may or may not want to offer him first.

It also means that Forest's negotiating position is not as strong as it would otherwise be-though it also means our own chances will be slimmer.

Which I still have difficulty understanding, he was out with a broken leg for a long time when he was at Preston and didn't quite break back into the first team when he recovered but then AT decided to use what limited funds we had to bring him here. Ah well, at least he scored that screamer against Bury!

I recall that Jess looked poor for several months until it clicked for him. And Gallacher before him was ordinary for a while.

If you were him would you sign for a club that you struggled at, can't get in the 1st team, fans call yyou McGoaldrought and you get sent out on loan, or a club where you are one of the 1st names chosen to play and admired by all the fans?

If only things were that simple Astute. It'll come down to money and league imo! Footballers can say they arent interested in the money but ill believe that when i see it.

That said id love for him to prove me wrong and be one of our players as of January, or next season if we cant strike a deal to sign him Jan

I am a Forest season ticket holder lads and he will never get anywhere near our first team again. We have Simon Cox, Billy Sharp, Dexter Blackstock and Marcus Tudgay. We have been trying to get him out of the club for the past six months. He has been useless in a Forest shirt, why? who knows! He has never really has an extended run in our side because he has never really done anything when he has come on or started to warrant it. He is a Nottingham lad so your club is a nice option for him.

I do not mean any disrespect, god knows I remember all too well our time in league one, but he really is playing at his level at the minute. Add to that, some clown decided to give him £12k a week and the result was, we had no choice but to try and play him until our new, very rich, owners came in and saw what the rest of us have for the past few seasons - He could not hit the side of a barn with a banjo whilst wearing a Forest shirt. I fully expect him to be sold to you or a.n other club in Jan for circa 400k. We get a bit back and the lad gets his move, which playing for you guys has clearly shown he needed.

I really hope he continues to do the biz for you for three reasons. 1. We might get a bit of money back which if you would have suggested to anyone in Nottingham 6 weeks ago you would have been carted off by the men in white coats. Did we really pay £1m to Southampton and they spent our money on Richie Lambert? 2. He has always struck me as a lad who is doing his best so I bear him no malice and 3. If you guys can drag yourselves up the league I would just love it if you nicked that last play off spot, especially if it was at the expense of the window-lickers over the river.

Very important, not just for his goals but also for the confidence that is starting to grow within the team.
