So

Waghorn
Walker
Kane
Dacosta
Dabo
Kelly
Bapaga
Maguire

( I'm assuming we offer Rose a contract)

How much do we reckon is off the wage bill with that lot and how many do you think we can get in off the back of it?

C.40k a week although some of that is already off the books with the loans out.

Another 2m for the season.

I’m going to say
Waghorn £12K
Walker £7K
Kane £9K
Dacosta £4K
Dabo £8K
Kelly £8k
Bapaga £500
Maguire £5k

So over £50K a week, if used on better players 4-5 in.

No way will Kelly be on 8k considering he’s captain and 2 promotions. Walker will be on more as well - he was signed as a Championship player.

Got to be around that figure. Most of those are long overdue.

For me

Waghorn £12K
Walker £9K
Kane £9K
Dacosta £5K
Dabo £8K
Kelly £10k
Bapaga £500
Maguire £5k

Almost 60k a week.

Can get 4 or 5 decent Championship quality players for that!

Not a chance we are paying Kelly 10k a week. He joined us from a National League side.
The rumours were / are that he had a good promotion clause in his contract, so 8k-ish has been the rumoured amount for a couple of years. I think one of the ITK's confirmed it.

Well known Waghorn is on 12k confirmed by ITK's

Along with Kelly and Dabo on or pushing 10k A Week with promotion/survival clauses etc., pretty sure that was confirmed too

Waghorn £13K (I’m sure SBB said this)
Walker £10k
Kane £4k (we are probably getting £4K contribution Charlton to make his 8k)
Dacosta £5K
Dabo £5K
Kelly £10k
Bapaga £1k
Maguire £5k

£53k plus any NI / appearance bonuses.

£60k week?

Give it all to Vik. (Only kinda joking)

Edit: someone did say that Hyam (SBB and he’d know) was on a fair whack due to promotion bonuses. Dabo probably on more than £5k.

I think a lot of the Waghorn and Maguire wage will be more or less the same budget? So likely to be more or less one wage rather than two.

The question is can the budget freed up by releasing players be spent more productively? But I also still feel there needs to be an increase in the first team squad budget to move us up into a competitive top 8 side.

The squad doesn’t need to be bigger it needs to be better, we have far to many players that we are never going to use taking a salary if you get rid of two that are no use and being one in that is you are better off.

We're getting injuries because we're flogging players by not being able to replace them (or at least with players the manager is confident in), so we need better quality throughout the squad as a whole.

Trouble is, we know how stubborn MR is in-game. He rarely changes tactics mid-game and I'm not sure he'd make that many changes even if the bench did have more quality on it. I reckon it'd help because he could change starting line-ups a bit more, but I'm still sceptical that we'd use subs much more.

Some of these posts are listing wages of those gone on loan, but don't forget we have 5 loans of our own we'll be contributing towards too. I'd add a couple of others in that pot and see a big squad overhaul this summer regardless of where we finish. No doubt in part funded by the sale of at least Vik in addition clearing the decks.

You could arguably add Moore and Allen to that list, they arnt bad players, but we need better than those two if we are to progress.

I expect us to loose 1 or 2 of our better players to Premier league sides as well, and the loans will go back to their own teams, so potentially 14 players leaving. MR has a mammoth rebuilding job to do in the summer. But what an opportunity he has, as long as there is a little financial support.

You really do not need to earn that much to own a million pound home

Probably still needs to be on a pretty decent wage. Think footballers normally end up with a shorter mortgage term than normal, seeing as their primary source of income ends around the age of 35.

Hopefully King is working on income streams and how we can fund wages for a normal Championship squad. The recent accounts show us nowhere near that yet, with a losses in excess of £6m and with record season ticket sales. Without ownership of the stadium it's going to be very difficult.

......cue MA. We have a low wage bill too, in comparison to other championship clubs and we're still losing 6m. Just think how much it could be in a season or 2 with the new team for next season requiring significant investment. Doug knows he's fucked without the CBS, he needs at least 50m all up to get us to the PL, I'm pretty sure he's only worth 90m. Big mike's the only way.

Aren’t the club ST prices the lowest in the league? That’ll be the first area that’ll see an increase yet people will still complain about it.

They’ll complain more if again they fork out more money to the club during shit economic times and there’s a 4th awful transfer window on the bounce.

Most clubs don’t do blanket price. So qpr as an example do have prices as low as £250.

Most central view tickets average £500

Logistically we seem to struggle to do variation pricing around the ground. We are 3rd cheapest in terms of the most expensive on offer of the 23 clubs

You don’t need £50m.

Just don’t go wasting big money wages and signing on fees for 31 year olds on longish deals like Waghorn.

Invest in youngish talent and take punts on McCallum types. If you risk in those you can only lose small and win big.

You’ll never win big with a Waghorn type.

You can't generalise. Obviously Waghorn was a horrendous waste of money but there have been plenty of examples of successful signings of players of his age. Mistakes will always happen but rarely as bad as Waghorn.
