Robins is a conservative manager, so there's a fair chance he'll keep the same team, or maybe bring Sheaf back in if he's fit but...

A conservative manager has also liked one up front a fair bit.

Our best football this season has been with one up front, so bringing Allen in for Godden makes sense but...

Against Birmingham and first half today we've played really well, so why change the system but...

Godden does look a little bit lost in the system.

So, keep two up front, or go back to one?

2 up front for the first leg.

Robins doesn't like changing things unless necessary, so I imagine we'll carry on as today formation-wise at least, even though Godden was ineffective but he has popped up with a few crucial goals in the past few weeks.

Having said that, I feel that MR could be tempted to switch it up in the away leg and go for the box just to disrupt Middlesboro's tactics, having played them twice in quick succession already with the same set-up.

Although Eccles has improved I feel he is the weakest link in midfield. Needs replacing for the semis.

Can see Allen playing for godden and sheaf for Eccles
That's what I'd do (if Sheaf is fully fit) but it's hard to argue against how we played against Birmingham and first half today, and why change something that's currently working? For once this season, it's nice to have options!

The other question is, do you attack for the lead in the first leg, or play cagey anyway and let the crowd get on their back if they can't break us down in the second?

Need a lead but I think they will genuinely be as scared of us as we are of them

Akpom looked good outside the box
Giles is so dangerous
We can win it

I think he'll keep it the same first leg. Eccles breaks up a lot of play, no coincidence that he has the best win % of all our players!
I seem to be in a minority, but thought Eccles played well today!

Kelly is the recent revelation and shocker - who knew!

TBH even though defensively and work rate he’s excellent Kelly’s lack of quality on the ball showed a few times today.

Also did a couple of lovely pull downs though, and his dink for Godden showed great vision and execution.

For him to come back so well and so effectively? After Wrexham that didn't look likely!
He's the club captain, the leader, hardest worker in training, the player who is most likely to go on into coaching and management and he has a massive knob. With him and Fadz in the side, it might actually happen.

Sheaf in for Kelly.

If you've got a chance of going up you play your best players and it's simple as that. I feel like I say it all the time on this forum but if you're under pressure as we were today at times around our own box you need someone who going to be entirely comfortable receiving the ball and moving us forward and/or retaining possession, especially if you're dealing with 60/40 split of possession not in your favour and you need to make the most of what you have. Kelly can't do that and Sheaf can.

Wasn't Eccles' best today, but he still did OK and did really well for the goal.

Sheaf in for Eccles, Kelly has earnt the right to start

So has Eccles.

I've no problem with Sheaf coming in as he's great, but if he does it'll be harsh on whoever drops out and certainly not a reflection of their performances.

Hopefully Eccles isn’t in the squad let alone the XI. I’ve still not stopped chuckling at that pass he made earlier to kill a promising counter attack

Play whoever’s most match fit out of Eccles and Sheaf. If Godden is gassed then maybe bring in Allen.

Otherwise keep it as it is. Now’s not the time to change things up or pretend we’re a different team from the one we’ve been all season. Be cautious at the back, press like fuck and hit them on the counter.

Think robins will leave godden on bench and start Allen as robins hasn't used the box system for a while and out think carrick

The thing is we have options, and will have a strong bench something we haven’t really had much of all season and compared to today we can play our way, we should have scored a couple more in the first 15 minutes and that’s the key, we will create chances got to take them.
Will Kasey Palmer be ready ?
