Slade claims most of his players are Division One standard and some even Championship standard. This being so, our performances have to be down to the manager's inability to create a winning team and a lack of tactical awareness. There can be no other reason.
Someone will make another excuse for him at some point today mate.
The words were there is a strong league one or championship performance in them, and performing at that level consistently. You can see he's taken a different approach to MV, rather than saying there not fit for the league like he did, and probably what we'd be happy to hear him say. Tho look what it did to the players after MV did. We still need these players till may.... sadly
This is why we're bottom, they are not playing at a regular performance level, and simply not up to it.
These were his words. Basically - the/QUOTE]
You can carry the odd prima donna if they bring something else to the table (blistering pace, dribbling skills, killer pass etc)
These were his words. Basically - the potential is there within the players, but they are inconsistent (or you could argue they are consistent in underperforming). The trouble with most of our players is that you can see a bit of something in them, yet they do not turn up often enough. I would excuse Beavon from this, and think Reilly has improved his performance level in general. Both of these players are battlers and put in a shift, which is what fans want. I thought Turnbull (for all of his failings) made a couple of fantastic blocks through sheer effort; however these should be a given for 9 out of 11 players. You can carry the odd prima donna if they bring something else to the table (blistering pace, dribbling skills, killer pass etc), but if you have not got enough consistent 7/10 players in terms of work rate you will struggle. To back this up though, you need to play a simple system which plays to any strengths you have and minimises the weaknessess (i.e. avoid one twos, back passes in your own half on a dodgy pitch with players who don't like it at their feet on a good pitch)
Yes, he has failed badly. That said I don't believe we have any players who are of a championship standard, given thr poor performance across all 33 games, I find it hard to claim we have mostly league one standard players.

Suspect Rotherham were planning for League One, mind. tbf I rate Willis. Let him develop into the centre back he's supposed to be, and he'll do alright for himself.Haven't we had bids for two players (Willis and Stevenson) from Championship level?
Ah, but there are some idiots about.Haven't we had bids for two players (Willis and Stevenson) from Championship level?
I imagine Stevenson was with a view to development (ala Maddison - was bigi PL quality when Newcastle bought him?), and Rotherham were and are completely rooted to thr foot of the championship table, so imagine Willis was also with a view to next season in league one. Neither would get in the starting line up of an average championship team IMO, and I am a big fan of Stevenson.Haven't we had bids for two players (Willis and Stevenson) from Championship level?
Thats a bit harsh has CC4L upset you as well"Hung by his own words"
Yes he is a big prick, that's for sure.
I remember a similar one I think it was Thorn saying that Jordan Clarke is good enough to play in the Premier League!Slade claims most of his players are Division One standard and some even Championship standard. This being so, our performances have to be down to the manager's inability to create a winning team and a lack of tactical awareness. There can be no other reason.
Well he maybe playing in the Championship next season.I remember a similar one I think it was Thorn saying that Jordan Clarke is good enough to play in the Premier League!
Yeah-he might be sitting on the bench like he is at the minute next season. Remember him playing for us in the Championship and well....lets just leave it there.Well he maybe playing in the Championship next season.
They really aren't capable of anything near that. Most of them are League two at best. I've barely seen a performance worthy of league one standard never mind the championship!Slade claims most of his players are Division One standard and some even Championship standard. This being so, our performances have to be down to the manager's inability to create a winning team and a lack of tactical awareness. There can be no other reason.
