Can't see anything on the club website, how long is this new contract? Good news anyway, he's progressed year on year and is an important part of the defence these days.

Played well Saturday, pleased for him after a couple of errors recently leading to goals. Good player.

Good news.

For all the stick he gets about his passing, his distribution stats were the best of the centre backs last season in just about every category.

He’s done better than I expected this year, really kicked on defensively. Still got a mistake in him and like most of the back line I do wonder whether we’ll need better to progress to a consistent top six side. But fair play he’s earned this

Change the name to sheaf and its a similar argument right .

Reality is , I think we need to accept we are punching and probably will always have to punch a bit with the financial power we have .. I can't see a point where top 6 is where we belong in this league without big investment , it's where we strive to be ofcourse to get that chance of the big time.. which will happen under the current management team at some point I'm certain

Different argument for me cos i think Sheafs core abilities are good enough, whereas im not sure about Hyam. He’s more in a category of Godden, Kelly, possibly even Dabo (forgive me father) in that he might be hitting his natural level. Also Hyams a couple of years older and has played far more football.

I don't think hyam , dabo or godden look anymore out of place at this level than sheaf if I'm honest

Thing is , we say they aren't good enough or we need better for top 6 .. all this while sitting 4th .. so they are good enough .. they just need to be consistently good enough.. at this moment in time, they are good enough .

I think what I'm saying is , they are good enough , at the moment they are good enough ........good enough.... enough .......good

Agree to disagree. On their day those three are all good enough, but this level is about having majority “on their day”s. Sheaf for me reminds me of Liam Walsh when he first started. Just needs confidence and experience at this level to iron out his casualness on the ball (and he’s already improved) but he generally performs at the right level outside that.

Really?
Thought Fadz was way clear when I looked at them.

I want to keep going with this, because I don't agree entirely , but I know you're the same and will argue back all day , it's not a healthy trait ... so I'm going to say .. fair enough mate ..and go outside and punch my hydrangea again

Hell of a job for us though , still only 25 (almost 26 )
Played 156 games for us total , and progressed as a player from league 2 to the championship

He's definitely better than last year so it seems he's still improving, and that's why I reckon he's got the contract

Not last season, Hyam was comfortably the best from what I saw.

Haven't checked this seasons though.

Fadz was miles better.

In fact Fadz was one of the best ball playing defenders in the Championship when it came to progressive passes & accuracy.

McFadzean's long passing is excellent, he did a couple of beauties at Preston

Cannot complain that a player that’s been a regular with us for 4 years now is secured.

Still need to be better on the ball and work out when he’s playing someone online or not.

Very much better on the right of the three though.

Wasn't the same thing said about the FA Cup winning team ? No real stars, just a bunch of average players, has-beens and never-will-bes. But together, they excelled what was expected of them and the management team was right to get the best out of them. Absolutely no reason this class of 21/22 couldn't do the same. This season could be akin to our FA Cup run.

Last seasons stats may be skewed as Hyam was playing out of his preferred position for most of the season while Osti was playing at RCB. This season, with JCS at LCB, Hyam looks far more comfortable on the right and seems to have come on a lot.

That's a pretty limited set of stats though and assists is not really a relevant stat when looking at CBs, even when lookingspecifically at their distribution.

I was mistaken though, it was this season I was looking at and this was from a few weeks back, just found the post I made:
